Model Information:

Fiat in the 1960s and 1970s wasn't just about cheap runabouts for the masses. with a product range extending from the tiny 500 (and its successor. the 126) through to the rarefied world of exotics like the Dino.

In the early Seventies. the Torinese giant made the decision to enter the luxury GT market. already owned by the Germans thanks to the Mercedes-Benz SLC and BMW 3. 0 Coupes. launching the 130 Coupe at the 1971 Turin Salon. Styled by Paolo Martini of Pininfarina. the 130 Coupe broke new ground with its perfect proportions. elegant detailing and simple. uncluttered appearance and even today is regarded as a styling masterpiece.

Mechanically. the new Fiat was based on the saloon floorpan with an oversquare V6 featuring alloy heads. a single-overhead camshaft per bank and twin choke Webers. all good for 165 bhp at 5600 rpm. There was the choice of a Borg-Warner automatic box or a five-speed manual and a limited-slip diff was standard equipment. as was power-assist on the steering. Inside. the 130 Coupe had one of the most luxurious and inviting cabins available. with plenty of space. velour-covered seats (even the rear seats were contoured buckets). wood trim and full instrumentation.

Lovely to look at. a pleasure to drive and incredibly affordable in comparison with its German rivals. the Fiat 130 Coupe has always been a sought after car. making it a good investment as well. Only 4. 91 Examples were made from 1971 to 1977. and less than 520 Right Hand Drive Examples were imported to Australia.

About The Car:

Imported from Rome Feb 2012 by myself and now fully registered in the UK. Solid. rot free car that's never been welded or restored. Was owned from new by the same Italian family.

Since arriving in the UK it's had a new cambelt. tensioner. water pump. centre exhaust section. dizzy cap. gear box mount. inertia reel front seat belts and the rear callipers have been rebuilt.

Mileage is showing 92k KMs - about 58k miles. I can't verify this as Italians tend not to keep hold of service records but I'd say it was genuine from the condition of the vehicle.

MOT is until August this year but I can put a fresh one on if required. Tax has now expired but from April 2014 it will be classed as tax exempt under the recent budget changes.

The car is in overall superb condition and has some nice period features including a 1970s car phone and an original Blaupunkt stereo that works. An electric aerial is fitted which also works. Air-con is fitted and although it appears mechanically sound it doesn't blow cold. The pump engages when switched on - it may just need converting to the current type of gas. Electric windows and mirrors are fitted and being a LHD spec car it has the handle under the dash which opens the passenger side door.

Lovely 70s velour interior and perfect pleated head lining. Drives great. smooth powerful engine and precise power steering. Vented disc brakes all round stop the car well. Great car for touring in with masses of space inside and a huge boot.

The car has been dry stored all the time it's been in the UK.
