RARE LOW MILEAGE DAIMLER DOUBLE SIX V12 COUPE - RESTORATION PROJECT

This is one of the last V 12 Daimler coupes to be built. Production trace certificate states manufactured September 1977 and originally silver with navy trim. The mileage is believed to be correct at 24. 80 as I have MOT's back to 1993. The car was subject to a restoration by Status Cars of Coventry as the letter shows (I have the photos they supplied to a later owner) and a key reason for purchase was the very low mileage at the time. At one point the car was owned by Tom Walkinshaw.

The car starts and runs fine and everything electrical works. especially all the windows and even the electric aerial! The air conditioning and heating system is fully working but will need re-gassing though really converting over from the R 12 a refrigerant is needed. There are no fuel leaks and both tanks operate. The car has had the following upgrades - hi-torque starter. SNG Barratt electronic ignition. AJ 6 Engineering TT stainless exhaust system and large throttle kit. The fuel hoses have been changed to suit ethanol added petrol. The headlining biscuit has been replaced with a fibreglass upgrade so does not sag!
The car now needs work which I had considered doing but have decided it really isn't for me due to changes in circumstances. The work required that I know of is:Drivers side floor and toeboard significantly corroded and need replacing Auto gearbox leaking fluid - believed to be the input shaft seal based on where it is leaking from but until it is out I cannot guarantee this Corrosion in various places around the car - both sills bubbling in a few places. offside wing corroded at bottom and is off the car. rear underscuttle rotted and missing about 30%Corroded brake pipes. damaged boot lid and boot lid chrome embellisher Corrosion damage to about 5" of bottom edge of drivers door. bubbling around drivers door lock. Radiator support pillar and lower support rotted through Small hole to front of offside inner wing The bonnet. offside front wing and all the bumpers have been removed but everything is available. There is a replacement used OE boot lid. two used OE front wings. From Martin Robey and others there are replacement panels for the toeboard. drivers side floor. the rear underscuttle and the radiator supports. There are also a new set of brake-pipes (non OE). various spares and 3 metres of headlining cloth. workshop manuals. spares catalogues and quite a bit of documented history. I do have some more photos of the car if needed.
