The Rivage was one of the last and best-equipped models of the Mk1 Golf GTi Cabriolet. Only 470 Rivage models were ever sold in the UK. with only 252 of those having leather trim. So with the inevitable decline in numbers over the last twenty years this is a very rare car. and the most desirable of all the Mk1 Cabriolets featuring a power hood. heated leather seats. electric windows. magnesium alloy Le Castellet polished alloy wheels and a six speaker stereo system.

Our example has covered just 64. 00 miles from new. and in the care of its last owner since 1994. So it came over to us in totally unmolested and original condition with almost all original paintwork. Blaupunkt radio and with all its original owner's handbooks. dealer keyfobs and miscellaneous documentation complete. There is a full service history with every MoT certificate from new to verify the mileage.

We have since refreshed the car by refinished it in its original shade of Classic Blue applying new ‘Rivage' decals. No bodywork was required. there was no corrosion or damage. just the inevitable minor scratches and chips that occur after 22 years. The hood is the original and in superb condition. as is the leather interior with no wear discernable.

Other recent work performed includes a new set of Dunlop SP2000 tyres. a full service. a new battery. new (genuine VW) exhaust with catalytic converter and new (genuine VW) stainless steel petrol filler neck and cap. The cambelt was also replaced in December 2012.

Overall we believe our Rivage to be the best on sale today as an exceptionally original example with flawless paintwork and a comprehensive service record.
