1927 RR replica - hand built using many vintage parts and techniques no GRP for sale
Current customer rating:
Here is a unique car which was hand-built in the style of a 1927 Landaulette with many vintage parts. This is not a plastic kit car. it is built in the traditional way with metal and wood and is registered as an historic vehicle with a DVLA date of first registration of 1927. If it ever needs body repairs they can be done with traditional methods and no moulds required. It has an age related registration number and has been recognised as an historic vehicle by the DVLA and thus MOT and Tax exempt. I have included one picture of an original Rolls Royce Landaulette to give some idea of how successful it is. Given each body was tailor made on the manufacturers chassis and drivetrain in this period. I think it is remarkably good. Hub disc covers over steel were an option to artillery wheels. I particularly like the fact that the auto gearbox lever on my car is one of the vintage levers on the outside of the body to the right of the driver. (The other lever is the hand-brake. ) I dislike the giveaway modern auto levers in the middle of the car on other vintage replicas.
The chassis on this car is a 1927 Chevrolet. Many mechanical parts are Ford. including disc brakes and parts for these are readily available. For example. I took a front disc brake caliper off this week to refurbish it and when I went to the motor factor for a kit they had a reasonably priced new caliper on the shelf. so I bought it! All-In-All - The car is really very convincing because many original vintage parts have been used. plus a gold plated radiator mascot and nice radiator.
The car is running and driving and I would welcome viewing.
She is available for viewing during the auction.
Car is in the south coast of England. Close to the ports of Southampton and Portsmouth.
