The Jaguar D-Type was a 190mph technical masterpiece. Designed. br/>built and prepared totally within Jaguar and going on to achieve a
hat-trick of spectacular Le Mans victories in the 1950s as well as
numerous victories in the other great classic endurance events.
This racing heritage has created a healthy demand for replicas of
these rare and exotic works sports-racers. But whereas the
production Jaguar D-Type was limited to using the 3. 4-litre version
of the XK engine. the biggest available at the time. replica
manufacturers and builders are afforded the luxury of choosing
either of the two larger XK sizes introduced subsequently; the
'3. 8' or '4. 2' which. even when mildly tuned. are easily capable of
exceeding the original's 250bhp maximum output.

Built using an XJ6 3. 4 chassis with the tub supplied by RAM. br/>this D-Type has been built to a good standard and. as well as being
an outstanding car aesthetically. we are advised by the vendor she
is 'great fun' to drive. Fitted with the 4. 2 litre engine and a
five-speed gearbox. this Jaguar is fitted with the correct wheels
and instrumentation. A comprehensive history folder is supplied and
we can confirm the cylinder head has been modified to run on
unleaded fuel. Without doubt an eye-catching car and one that has
all the correct ingredients for enjoyable motoring; even helmets
with microphone and speakers are supplied for ease of communication
when passengers are present.
