Citroen DS23 for sale
Current customer rating:
Great specification late DS: big engine. 5 speed manual. carb and leather in superb colours with much new expenditure.
Left hand drive and sold UK registered with an age related registration.
History of this car
This DS 23 berline chassis 01 FE 8658 is a top line DS 23 model fitted with the larger 2347 cc 124 hp motor.
According to the original guarantee booklet that accompanies the car. our DS was supplied new by Citroen concessionaire ORSA SA on 7. 2. 1975. in Turin. Italy. carrying registration TO MO 8242.
Our car has only had 2 previous owners from new (the last since 2006). and remained in Turin until late last year when imported by us. sourcing it for the exceptional rust free chassis.
Originally painted Bleu delta. according to the previous owner our car was repainted very early in its life in Bleu nuit (AC 601). a dark blue. almost black. a colour from the 1959 DS palette. It's a subtle shade that suits the design of the DS beautifully. accentuating every subtle shape and curve. There is no trace of the original colour anywhere. and the colour change may have been performed by the supplying dealer.
This DS has never been restored but carefully looked after its entire life this shows in the manner in which it drives and presents itself.
The total mileage recorded is 11000 klms. which judging by the condition of the car is believable as a second time round figure of 111. 00 klms or 70. 00 miles from new.
Body
The thing that sets this car apart is the original rust free chassis. and is the reason you should buy it if nothing else. It's very unusual to find this model in such totally sound. unrestored condition. The body has straight sides. good panel gaps and looks a million dollars.
We have Waxoil treated the chassis to help preserve it for the future.
The Bleu nuit dark blue paintwork has a superb high gloss shine. Apart from the odd small nick and mark. this remains an impressive looking (and reassuringly older paint job) paint job which perfectly suits the DS.
The roof seals had deteriorated when we got the car. a not uncommon problem with this model. so we removed the roof and replaced these main seals. taking the opportunity to repaint the roof panel itself.
All glass is undamaged apart from some very minor abrasions to the front and rear screens all remaining rubber seals are supple and the bumpers and bright work are damage free.
Mechanics
Our DS is a super smooth driver with a quiet. powerful engine. It has just had a service with a specialist when the ignition was reset and tappets were adjusted the car really drives without fault in our opinion. The exhaust system and battery are recent. and all tyres are correct Michelins with plenty of tread.
The under bonnet is nicely detailed with factory finishes throughout. and a full compliment of tools accompany the car.
New MOT.
Interior
Our car has an older retrim in excellent condition with just the right amount of patina.
The seats are trimmed in a gorgeous maroon leather and have no splits or tears. and the leather remains wonderfully supple. The carpets are the originals with light wear. and the headlining. in a groovy cloth pattern. is in excellent condition.
The dashboard is in very good shape with no damage our car has been modified to a push button starter but otherwise the dash is standard.
Boot
This has been retrimmed by us in the correct materials. It looks and smells new.
Summary
A top DS with the desirable big engine. manual. carburettor format in cherished and crucially rust free condition.
Supplied with rare original guarantee booklet. and an original owner's manual.
Left hand drive and sold UK registered with an age related registration.
