A very rare and increasingly desirable 1960's BMW coupe in great condition ready to be used and enjoyed.
Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1965. the 2000 cs was the sporting two door. coupe version of their 'Neue Klasse' range.
With styling that is unique in a vehicle that is rarely seen in the UK. this is a great opportunity to join a very exclusive band of BMW owners.
BMW's celebrated 4-cylinder M 10 engine. the New Class models featured a fully indpendent. Mc Pherson suspension set up in front. and front disc brakes. Initially a family of four-door sedans and two-door coupes. the New Class line was broadened to two-door sports sedans with the addition of the 02 Series 1600 and 2002 in 1966.
haring little in common with the rest of the line beyond the power train. the sporty siblings caught auto enthusiasts' attention and established BMW as an international brand.
Featuring a modern coupe body by Karmann and a luxurious interior. the 100 hp (75 k W) single-carburetor 2000 C and 120 hp (89 k W) dual-carburetor 2000 CS were sold from 1965 through 1969. The CS versions were oly available with a manual gearbox. which added to their allure and sporting aspirations.
The coupe's styling was very controversial due to the design of its front grilles and headlights. but today is considered one of the most beautiful BMW's ever produced. Featured in BMW magazine. this 'beautiful stranger' was referred to as ''A harmonious balance between the performance of a rakish sports car and the comfort of a luxurious cruiser. '' We couldn't agree more.
Imported from South Africa two years ago. the car has clearly benefitted from being in a very dry environment which is evident from its condition.
