Like the Triumph 2000 it was developed from. the Stag was styled
by Italian maestro Giovanni Michelotti and featured the monocoque
construction. independent suspension. disc/drum brakes. br/>power-assisted rack. and also the pinion steering and driveline of
that saloon. The power plant. though. was an all-new OHC. V 8 of
3000 cc capacity fed by a pair of Stromberg carburettors and the
newcomer received a warm reception at the time of launch in 1970.
Most Stags were fitted with a Borg Warner automatic gearbox. as
indeed is this one with electric windows. power steering and
power-assisted brakes fitted as standard. Very desirable. the Stag
is well supported through various clubs and specialist
suppliers.

This sound example. presented in red with a contrasting black
vinyl interior. wood dash and automatic gearbox comes with an
exhaustive history of invoices as well as a UK V 5 C and an Mo T test
certificate valid until July 2016. Towards the end of last year. br/>new discs. pads and reconditioned callipers were fitted. New
bearings as well as numerous other minor works were carried out in
January making for a reliable and thoroughly mechanically strong
example. Indeed. the entire car underwent a full restoration in
approximately 1998 and has also recently had a gearbox overhaul and
engine rebuild to the tune of some £3. 00. This Triumph Stag
represents good value given the fiscal input.
