Believed to be the only one in existance and built at the shuttleworth aircraft workshops in camebridge this lovely and interesting car is Based on a 2 cv platform and was built in the 80 s. Body is aluminium constructed from old air craft panels. old aircraft rivets can be seen in places The car is motd and fully road legal. t has nice patina and is of course very rare. Richard shuttleworth was a GP driver and aviator of note. a world renown museum exists today in his name. Difficult to put a price on this as it could be worth a whole lot more with its history patina and legacy. interesting px considered credit cards accepted overseas enquiries welcome 80 th anniversary of first Donington Grand Prix commemorated The 80 th anniversary of the first Grand Prix at Donington will be commemorated at this year's festival. The 1935 race was won by Richard Shuttleworth in an Alfa Romeo and cars from that era will race in the Historic Grand Prix Association. including the ERA R 4 A machine that was piloted to victory by Pat Fairfield at Donington in the 1935 Nuffield Trophy. Other cars racing in this contest include those previously driven by the likes of Jack Brabham. Stirling Moss and Bruce Mc Laren. Richard Ormonde Shuttleworth (1909–1940)[1] was a racing motorist. aviator and prolific collector of veteran cars and aircraft. His collection forms the nucleus of the Shuttleworth Collection. Pilot Officer Shuttleworth was killed in an accident whilst flying a Fairey Battle. [2] Shuttleworth participated in his first London to Brighton Veteran Car Run in 1928. [3] He often entered more than one car for this event. He participated 1928–1938 except for 1935 where: "R. O. Shuttleworth failed to send in his entry before the closing date but joined up with the others at Westminster Bridge with a Benz. His companion at the wheel was Charles Martin and their hairy goat-skin coats which dated from the same period as the car. were much admired. "[4] He won the Brighton Speed Trials on a Bugatti Type 51 in 1934. 5] and again in 1935[6] on an Alfa-Romeo P 3 Tipo B. breaking Sir Malcolm Campbell's course record. He also won a one-off hillclimb at Joel Park. Northwood Hill. Middlesex. on 22 June 1935. on a Bugatti. in a time of 30. 16 sec. [7] His greatest victory came in the Donington Grand Prix in 1935. [8] He won the Mountain Championship at Brooklands later that year. [9] In 1936 he had a bad crash in his Alfa Romeo at the South African Grand Prix. The injuries suffered caused him to retire from motor racing. He was chairman of Railton Cars. Ltd. He was a member of the BRDC. [10] He collected and repaired for flight old aircraft at workshops at Old Warden. These he flew at air displays.
