The Volkswagen Type 181 was a two-wheel drive. four-door. convertible. off-road. military vehicle manufactured by Volkswagen from 1968 to 1983. between 1969 and 1972 the VW 181 was produced in Germany and only later was production transferred to other countries. Originally developed for the West German Army. the Type 181 was also sold to the public and was known under various names in the USA it was known as The Thing. With a 1600 CC 4 cylinder engine and a 4 speed manual transaxle this vehicle is ready to go anywhere.
