1996 MG RV8 Roadster in immaculate condition, less than 6k miles from new for sale
Current customer rating:
This car has just been imported from Japan where it was garaged and used very sparingly only on occasional weekends which means it's total documented mileage is just 9200 km (5800 miles).
It still has that new car smell and is in stunning condition throughout as you would expect for such a low mileage vehicle.
It is finished in Woodcote Green with a Stone Beige Leather interior.
Air conditioning and factory alarm system fitted.
Supplied with new UK first registration and MOT.
These RV 8's were built to a high standard and specification and being limited in number means they contain all the right ingredients to become a future classic. This car is amongst the lowest mileage cars on the market at the moment and represents great value for money.
The MG RV 8 was a hugely important step in the 1990's rebirth of MG Cars after more than a decade of only producing saloons and hatchbacks. Since Abingdon's closure in 1980. MG had been reserved for the Metro. Maestro and Montego and. although these cars were worthy. what enthusiasts really wanted was a new MG roadster.
In creating the RV 8. Rover very cleverly used a combination of off-the-shelf parts. such as the Range Rover's V 8 engine and British Motor Heritage MGB bodyshell. So. in this re-incarnation of the MGB. the rubber bumper specification body was taken and modified to accept a new set of beautifully curvaceous outer panels.
The 3. 9-litre Range Rover EFi V 8 engine developed 185 bhp. and gave the RV 8 enough power to crack six seconds for the 0-60 mph run. A five-speed LT 77 gearbox. derived from the Rover SD 1 was used along with a new Salisbury axle. Very significant modifications were made to the suspension and brakes to bring the car up to date. The interior featured leather and burr elm facia and door cappings.
Following a successful launch at the Tokyo Motor Show. Japan proved to be a hugely successful market and 1581 out of the 1983 examples made were exported there although many of those including this one have been re-exported back to the UK.
