The Mondial offers an affordable entry into Ferrari ownership
with the benefit of the added practicality of its 2+2
configuration. Conceived as Ferrari's 'world car' and rival to the
Porsche 911. the Mondial stayed in production from 1980 to 1993
through four distinct variants. The last and best of them - the
Mondial T - was sufficiently different to almost warrant a new
name. By now the original three litre. V 8 had been enlarged to the
3. 4 litres as shared with the Ferrari 348. delivering nearly
300 bhp. The 'T' suffix refers to the switch from a transverse
engine and gearbox to a new in-line engine/transverse box layout
that allowed the engine to be mounted much lower in the chassis
offering a dramatic improvement in handling. Other innovations on
the Mondial T included electronic variable suspension. air
conditioning and power steering. along with various styling
changes.
This 1992 Ferrari Mondial T is believed to be one of only 47
sold in the UK in righthand drive form making it a very rare beast
indeed. Originally supplied through Evans Halshaw in Birmingham in
September 1992. it has been fully maintained throughout its life
with the last cambelt change being carried out less than 750 miles
ago by Ferrari specialists. Dave Walton in County Durham. This
excellent example has covered about 50. 00 miles from new having
had the speedo replaced at 12. 37 miles in 1997. Finished in Rosso
Corsa with magnolia leather interior and red carpets. this superb
Mondial T has been looked after throughout its life and is supplied
with a V 5 C registration document. a current Mo T test certificate. br/>the original handbook pack and a file containing invoices and old
Mo T certificates. These late Ferrari Mondial's. with all of their
improvements. are the ideal entry to Ferrari ownership.
