Mercedes-Benz : G-Class 2 door for sale
Current customer rating:
The Ebay technical staff is not aware of grey market imports.
They do not know Auto Europa and lot of others imported these G-wagons for more than 2 decades before Mercedes decided to sell these G-wagons themselves. Therefore. I have to list this vehicle as a 1976. even though it is a 1996 model.
Up for sale is a 1996 Mercedes G 300 TD DIESEL G-wagon. This
car was born a 1996 G 350 TD with a OM 603. 35 A engine. The 3. 5 6 cyl engine is identical to the OM 603. 30 A engine except they increased the bore to 3. 5.
The 3. 5 engine was a bad engine- it had problems with connecting rods.
they would bend. Ironically the smaller 3. 0 engine had 157 hp versus
136 hp from the 3. 5 engine. Even the cylinder heads on both engines were
identical.
The 3. 0 engine came into production in 1986. the 3. 5 engine in 1992.
Mercedes started using alloy heads with the OM 603. 30 A engine for the first time in 1986. These early heads had cooling problems due to narrow water
ways. Mercedes had a series of castings all the while improving the
head. The very first casting was a #12 then #14. #17. #18 and
finally #22.
The #22 head is a very good designed. problem-free. head suitable for either OM 603. 30 A or OM 603. 35 A engine.
When the #22 head was produced Mercedes was already producing the OM 603. 35 A engines.
When the 350 motors in the nineties started throwing rods. the G-wagon boys
figured out it would be best to convert the G 350 (136 hp) to a OM 603. 30 A
3. 0 liter block (157 hp) with a #22 head.
This is exactly what was done here.
This OM 603. 30 A block has around 146 kmi on it. When we removed the #12 head. the honing marks in the cylinder bores were still vise-able.
The #22 head from the 3. 5 engine was nearly new.
The 350 injection pump was serviced by Bosch and 5% enriched.
It has a KKK turbo compressor. which we did not add boost.
A brass radiator was made from scratch for optimal cooling.
Front axle hubs were disassembled. completely rebuild with all new bearings.
seals. rubber boots. synthetic grease. hubs painted. all bolts plated.
Front brake calipers were disassembled. plated and rebuild with new ATE kits. new brake hoses. pads and vented rotors. Rear drums rebuild. turned and
plated. All bolts and hardware were plated back to its original yellow zinc.
Engine bay and underneath were detailed while engine was out.
We installed 2 layers of radiant barrier under transmission tunnel to keep the heat out. All 5 alloy wheels powder coated in matte black.
Roof was painted in white. 2 layers of radiant barrier were installed under
headliner. New front windshield. New front wipers with turbo blades.
4 new Continental tires. Custom exhaust down pipe (free-flow and plated
nickel) custom exhaust end-pipe. New serpentine belt. thermostat. water
hoses. glow plugs. aster brake cylinder. visco clutch. a/c was flushed
and charged. Mercedes coolant. ATE brake fluid. front and rear axle
flushed twice. auto transmission and transfer box flushed.
Car was never wrecked.
This Mercedes G-wagon was delivered with these options from new:
-AMG fender extenders
-30 mm. per side front wheel spacers
-front mudflaps
-rear mudflaps-running boards
-a/c
-leather wrapped steering wheel with airbag

-sliding side windows
-tilting front seats
-G-wagon rubber over mats front. enter and rear

-4-speed automatic
-high and low transfer box
-tow hitch

-1 back-up light in white
This G-wagon is ready for many miles to come. but do realize it is a 17 year old vehicle and has picked up scars and blemishes along the way. I have clear title in my name.
Vehicle is sold AS-IS / WHERE-ISThis sale is not complete until a Bill of Sale is signed by both buyer and seller. Happy New Year!
