1962 Land Rover Series IIA - Total Nut & Bolt Restoration - Superb Throughout for sale
Current customer rating:
This fabulous Series 2 a has had just four owners from new and has just subject to a total nut and bolt restoration. Its last owner and restorer knew the car from his childhood and remembered driving it when he was ten years old.
The restoration started with a new. galvanized chassis. The bulkhead was rebuilt. the doors were replaced (top and bottom) and the body resprayed in its original Bronze Green. There is a new Exmoor trim frame and canvas back.
The original engine has been rebuilt. fitted with a new carb. alternator. distributor and clutch. There is also a new fuel tank. sender unit and fuel pump. And it has a new radiator and hoses.
The suspension has new parabolic leaf springs and the braking system has been completely replaced. Including new copper brake lines.
In addition. the Land Rover has been completely rewired with a new battery. new wiper motors. refurbished clocks and a rebuilt Smiths heater. All the lights are new too.
The above is just a small selection of the new or refurbished parts that have gone into the rebuild. And only 500 miles have been covered since completion.
In summary. it's a Land Rover that has had an extremely thorough refurbishment. yet it hasn't been over-restored so it remains eminently usable and will provide a great deal of fun for its new owner. in any weather.
