COMMER COB LIGHT COMMERCIAL - WITH CONVERSION - VERY RARE !! for sale

The Cob was the light commercial version of the Hilman Husky estate car. itself based on Hilman Minx saloons of the 50's and 60's.

This is a 1961 model Commer Cob. with 1390cc engine. so its saloon car counterpart would have been the Series 2 Minx. In the 60's Rootes dealerships offered a conversion for the Cob with rear seat and windows and this is one such dealer converted vehicles.

It is in very good condition and has benefited from a light restoration in the last few years. The mileage reading is 44. 00. which I cannot guarantee but may well be correct. The 1390cc engine and 4-speed gearbox perform very well and surprisingly tall gearing allows motorway speed cruising. In the last few months. it has had a brake overhaul at a cost of over £300.

There are only a handful of these vehicles left and this one attracts huge attention wherever it goes. Interestingly. a slightly later model made nearly £10k at auction recently. albeit with a 1725cc engine fitted. This one offers great value. Long MOT. Ready to use. Tax exempt.
