The Fiat X 1/9 is a two-seater designed by Bertone and
manufactured by Fiat from 1972-1982 and subsequently by Bertone
from 1982-1989. In 1982. shortly after the introduction of the 1500
model. complete production was assumed by Bertone with models
subsequently badged as the Bertone X 1/9. With a transverse engine
and gearbox in a mid-mounted. rear-wheel drive configuration. it
was noted for its excellent handling and lightweight-removable
hardtop. It succeeded a 1969 show concept car called the
Autobianchi Runabout with styling by Bertone under chief designer
Marcello Gandini and. unlike Fiat's marketing nomenclature at the
time the X 1/9 retained its prototype code as its marketing
name.
This cheeky two-seater has less than 50. 00 recorded and is in
good order throughout. Sporting the larger engine. leather seats
and five freshly painted factory option alloy wheels. it appears
sound and drives well. The roof fits snugly into the front bonnet
space and the history file details a new windscreen fitted in 2012.
Complete with a seven month Mo T test certificate and the original
owners handbook. this lovely mid-engined Italian sports car is
ready to be driven home. Offered at no reserve. this represents
fabulous value for money.
