1956 STUDEBAKER for sale
Current customer rating: (478 votes ) based on1956 STUDEBAKER GOLDEN HAWK --- i have owned the car since january 2005 --- i have a clear nevada title --- when i purchased the car it was put in storage and never driven --- PLEASE READ THIS DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY AS IT SHOULD ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS
EXTERIOR --- the body is solid --- all the chrome and stainless are in place and could use restoration --- meaning the stainless should be polished and the chrome parts rechromed to make this car show quality --- the paint is acceptable but far from perfect --- a repaint is needed to make this a show quality car --- everything is on the car except the two front bumper guards -- after taking the pictures i took the trunk lock and emblem off to install the key lock in the bezel -- right now i am unable to figure out how to install the cyl key -- i will leave all parts in the glove box for someone much smarter than i am to re-install
INTERIOR --- all the upholstery is original to the car --- no rips or tears and the headliner is in the same condition --- the red parts of the seats are faded from time and could probably be dyed to give it a better look --- carpet is good --- all the gauges are in the dash and i do not know which ones work or do not work --- the dash pad is good -- the steering wheel needs a horn ring and restored --- the air conditioning unit in the car works -- the fan runs on all speeds --- the compressor is in place however no cold air coming to the inside ---
ENGINE --- the engine is a small block chevy with an auto trans ( looks like a 283 cu in)--- when i went to take the car out of storage i by passed the fuel line and used a one gallon gas can --- installed a new battery and tires --- checked the engine oil ( full ) radiator ( full ) and the transmission needed a gallon of oil ( the transmission pan has a very small leak ) this is the hard part to believe however the car started up on the first crank and idled perfectly --- shifted in gear and was driven only in my neighborhood ( it is not registered to use on the highway ) --- it steers and brakes very good --- does not overheat -- the exhaust is quiet --- the negative part of this car is that it has a chevy engine that runs excellent however most buyers would prefer the original engine --- i know this will take away from the selling value and has been considered in the reserve price that i am asking ( who ever installed this engine knew what they were doing - looks to be a good fit )
BODY --- this car is solid and no rust issues with the exception that behind the front driver and passenger wheel there is a rust hole the size of a golf ball on each side -- also on the rear passenger side behind the wheel there is also a very small rust issue -- these three rust areas appear to be easily fixed however they are there -- the rest of the underside has only surface rust -- The body - frame - floor pans and the trunk are all solid -- i have another 10-15 pictures of this car that i could not put on ebay - they show the underside in detail -- if you have a genuine interest in this car and are bidding on it just send me your email address i willl send them to you
ITEMS OF INTEREST --- all of the glass in the car is in perfect condition except the vent window glass -- both sides need to be replaced as they are blistered -- the windshield is perfect and has no wiper marks or stone chips --- the windshield wipers are not on the car and will be left in the trunk --- all the windows roll up and down although some are very hard to operate -- recommend restoring side window crank gears or at least getting under the door panels and lube the gears and tracks -- after all the gauges are checked out and repaired and the tail lights and turn signals repaired this car could easily be used while restoring -- the tires are nearly new --- this hawk is an excellent canidate to restore as all of the parts are on the car.
THIS IS ABOUT ALL I CAN TELL YOU ABOUT THE CAR - THE PICTURES CAN DO THE REST - JUST REMEMBER PICTURES MAKE EVERYTHING LOOK BETTER THAN THEY REALLY ARE - MY INTENSIONS WERE TO MAKE THIS A COOL RESTOMOD WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR -- I SAW ONE IN A MAGAZINE THAT WAS TUTONED RED AND BLACK WITH A RED AND BLACK INTERIOR -- 454 CHEVY ENGINE CARRIED WITH 18"TORQUE-THRUST MAGS -- I THOUGHT THIS WAS THE ULTIMATE IN LOOKS -- THIS HAWK WAS DESTINED TO LOOK JUST LIKE IT BUT IT NEVER HAPPENED --- THIS HAS ALL THE MAKINGS TO BE ONE SHARP STREET MACHINE -- 56 HAWKS ARE RARE AND COOL -- IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS THAT I HAVE NOT ANSWERED IN THE LISTING FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME OR CALL 702-401-3344 ANYTIME BEFORE 8PM PST
I EXPECT THE WINNING BIDDER TO CONTACT ME AFTER AUCTION END TO DISCUSS PAYMENT OPTIONS AND SHIPPING TIME -- I PREFER TO USE PAYPAL ONLY FOR A 500. 00 DEPOSIT HOWEVER IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A PAY-PAL ACCOUNT IT IS NO BIG DEAL --- I EXPECT PAYMENT IN FULL WITHIN 7 DAYS --- THE CAR CAN REMAIN IN MY CARE FOR AS LONG AS IT TAKES TO FIND A SHIPPER AT A REASONABLE PRICE -- SOMETIMES THIS IS A PROBLEM FOR BUYERS HOWEVER I HAVE PLENTY OF SPACE TO KEEP THE CAR AND TIME IS OF NO IMPORTANCE --
PLEASE BE SURE THIS IS THE CAR YOU WANT BEFORE BIDDING -- GOOD LUCK
