1970 Pontiac GTO Convertible

History

The Pontiac GTO is an American automobile built by Pontiac Division of General Motors from 1964 to 1974. The first generation GTO was amuscle car classic of the 1960 s and 1970 s era. Although there were earliermuscle cars. the Pontiac GTO is considered by some to have started the trendwith all four domestic automakers offering a variety of competing models.

The Tempest line received another facelift for the 1970 modelyear. Hidden headlights were deleted in favor of four exposed round headlampsoutboard of narrower grille openings. The nose retained the protruding verticalprow theme. although it was less prominent. While the standard Tempest and Le Mans had chromegrilles. the GTO retained the Endura urethane cover around the headlamps andgrille.
