Cadillac : Other LA SALLE SERIES 50

This is a car that people always exclaim "WOW" when they see it. 1937 La Salle Series 50 V 8 Sedan. I have never had a car draw a crowd as quick as this one. There's no denying its presence. I bought it a few months ago because I just had to have it when I saw it. This prewar Caddy is the most gangster ride I have ever owned. or probably ever will. Due to a change in personal circumstances. I am reluctantly selling. I will start off saying that I am no expert on these cars. Extensive. expensive restoration was done by the previous owner. and the car was a garage queen thereafter.

I am presently living 350 miles from where the car is stored so it has been difficult for me to get things done. Wish I had a garage at home. I haven't gone over the car completely so I am sure there will be some details not mentioned that may require attention. I wanted the car driveable so I have done some mechanical work. and have driven the car several times. It has an all new driveshaft (original included). radiator was boiled and cleaned. new radiator hoses and cap. new 6 v battery. Car starts right up with a little hand setting of the choke ( the cable is not hooked up). and runs very smoothly. Car drives well but last time I drove it the water pump started leaking. and I would plan to fix this before driving any distance. The exhaust downpipe has a leaking weld. easy fix with a small section of pipe. Brakes work well. steering box has some play but car goes down the road straight. The sought after La Salle floor-shift 3 speed shifts smooth as butter. The throwout bearing is beginning to make some intermittent noise.

The body is a thing of beauty as you can see in the pics. It's not going to win a Concours. but it is impressive in person. The chrome and stainless are excellent. rubber and glass are like new. Exterior lighting all works. Floors and body are solid. no rust through. There are a few small bubbles at the bottom of the doors and trunk.

Gorgeous beige mohair interior. Seats. headliner. carpets and door panels were refurbished to the highest standards. Missing the temp and oil gauges. fuel and amp gauges work fine. All windows work smoothly. Speedo needs cable. Wipers don't work. Also included is a nice reproduction Cadillac La Salle shop manual.

With a little tinkering and tlc. you could have yourself an amazing prewar Cadillac at a sweet price.

PICKUP/SHIPPING: Vehicle is in a storage unit in Ventura. CA. Vehicle must be picked up within 10 days of auction end. I will need at least 24 hours notice of your arrival time to pick up so I can drive 6 hours to meet you personally and help load. I will be out of town after that for 2+ weeks. If you must pick up after Oct. 23 but by Oct. 31 st. I can have a friend meet you with prior arrangement. However. he knows nothing about this car. I can only guarantee access to the storage unit but not that he will be able to start/drive/load it. This means that you/your driver may have to push it out of the bay if you can't start it. If you need more time. the storage unit will cost buyer $254 a month. payable on Nov 1 st. I will again be available to deliver after Nov. 10 th.
