Fully restored Mini Cooper S look-a-like. Feature car in Miniworld last year. This car was taken back to a bare metal shell and had all the rot cut out and a new front end fitted using Heritage Panels by Foundry Classics. It was the subject of a full rebuild with no expense spared. New brakes all round. new fully adjustable suspension with re-con swing arms all painted chassis black. Anything that wasn't 100% was replaced. It now sits on Mini-tastic yellow race springs with lowered adjustable shocks. The engine is to hill climb spec built by Rob Walker. The car will do 80 mph in second gear due to the diff fitted but I have a 3. 1 Swiftune diff I can sell with the car. I also have a set of new suspension cones as the ride is really too hard for normal day to day use. on a smooth road or track its fantastic. Engine pulls cleanly to 7. 00 rpm. Gearbox and drops are all straight cut. head is tunnel ported with offset valves. I'm only selling because I never use it. its done less than 800 miles in the last 6 years. it would make a great car for someone who is looking for a good show mini. Paint has been on the car since 2002 and it still looks immaculate and is like glass. It is noisy due to the solid mounted subframes so don't expect a relaxing drive. Front subframe is seam welded. Engine only comes alive after 2800 rpm then will just scream until the 7700 red line. Engine was run in on a rolling road. I don't have all the bills for this car as I have owned it for the last 12 years and been in my extended family from new. The cost of the restoration is more than a decent original Cooper S would cost. but I don't use it and need to fund another project.
Engine Spec:
A+ Block bored to 1293cc. Kent 286 Cam. 11 Stud Head with ARP studs. 1. 5 Titan Roller Rockers. Tunnel Ported Head. Double valve springs. modified valves. Forged pistons. weight matched con rods and pistons. wedged. cross drilled and heat treated crank. all the rotating parts were then balanced. Fitted with a high pressure oil pump. Twin 1 1/2" SU Carbs with Facet Electronic Fuel Pump feeding them.
Gearbox:
Mini Sport straight cut gearbox with 1:1 straight cut drops. Gearbox bolts enlarged. Gear linkage was New Old Stock.
Brakes:
Complete braking system was replaced. new pipes. braided hoses. discs. calipers. back plates. cylinders. pads. shoes. genuine Minifin rear drums.
Interior:
Fully restored interior with Moss 3 clock centre binnacle conversion. Seats are Corbeau Buckets with Mini 40 Years stitching. rear cover is a one off by Corbeau to match the front seats. New seat belts were fitted along with rear belts.
Exterior:
Body shell was restored and painted by Nick Fletcher at Foundry Classics in Dorking. All rust was cut out and new metal let in. there is no filler at all in this car. It has a new front end with Mk1 Bonnet. The rear has the Mk1 rear light conversion and an original MK1 bootlid. The paint is like glass no orange peel effect on this. It has the original Mini 25 tinted glass. an Aston Filler Cap and pressed steel number plates. a bonnet strap and an original Lucas Reversing light for that period look.
Wheels:
Original Japanese Rose Petal Alloys. These are not replica's but the original Japanese Spec 6x12's. very rare in the UK.
I don't have all the receipts for this car but it has cost in excess of what a good original Cooper S would.
