The 911 can trace its roots back to sketches drawn by Ferdinand
Porsche in 1959 and was developed as a much more powerful. larger. br/>more comfortable replacement for the Porsche 356. the company's
first model. The new car made its public debut at the 1963
Frankfurt Motor Show and had a non-operational mock-up of the 901
engine. receiving a working one in February 1964. It was originally
designated as the 'Porsche 901' (901 being its internal project
number). with 82 cars being built as 901's. However. Peugeot
protested on the grounds that in France it had exclusive rights to
car names formed by three numbers with a zero in the middle. So. br/>instead of selling the new model with another name in France. br/>Porsche generously changed the name to 911.
This Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet presents in splendid
condition and is described by the vendor as being "superb to
drive". Finished in Guards red with light grey interior. it also
benefits from a power hood. A comprehensive service history
accompanies the car with no fewer than 25 stamps in the service
book latterly at renowned marque specialists GT One Ltd a
comprehensive collection of receipts are also available in the
history file. Supplied with a V 5 registration document and a full
year's Mo T test certificate. this 911 convertible is ready to be
