The Jensen C-V 8 is a four-seater GT car produced between 1962
and 1966 and launched in October 1962. The C-V 8 series had
fibreglass bodywork (only the door skins were steel). as did the
preceding 541 series. All C-V 8's used big-block engines sourced
from Chrysler first the 361 then. from 1964. the 330 bhp 383. Most
of the cars had three-speed Chrysler Torqueflite automatic
transmission although some were produced with a four-speed manual
gearbox. While the majority of C-V 8 s were made in righthand drive. br/>eight were made in lefthand drive. The car was one of the fastest
production four-seaters of its era with the Mk. II being capable of
136 mph and accelerating from 0-60 mph in an impressive 6. 7 seconds.
The upgraded Mk. II. introduced in October 1963. had Selectaride
rear dampers and minor styling changes. Changes on the Mk. III. the
final version of the series which was introduced in June 1965. br/>included a reduction in overall length. deeper windscreen. br/>headlights all of the same size. improved interior ventilation. br/>wood-veneer dashboard. the addition of overriders to the bumpers
and a dual-circuit braking system. The model was discontinued in
1966 after a total production run of 500.
First registered on 31 st December 1965. this C-V 8 is a fine
example of the 48 year old Jensen. With a history file dating back
to 1968. it is easy to identify this as a much loved example.
Supplied with the original green log book together with a V 5
registration document and a full year's Mo T test certificate. this
maroon with grey leather trim Jensen C-V 8 epitomises a luxury
sports car of the 1960's. Good example C-V 8's are becoming
increasingly rare. and this is a perfect opportunity to purchase a
useable and interesting classic sports car.
