This is a super neat project. First. lets get some history on the truck. It's a 1948 International KB1 stepside short bed truck. The truck was a Utah navy surplus truck. It was then sold and fitted with a flathead ford engine. that engine was then replaced by a 283 v8 in the 60's. Then the 70's came around it was time to stop fooling around and it got a 396 big block with a th400 trans. At that time the truck was driven daily as a workhorse/project truck. Then came the 80's and the truck was put on the backburner. Then in the early 90's the truck was outfitted with it's current engine. a 427 big block chevy. I am not sure if it's a 2 bolt or 4 bolt main. but it decoded as a 1969 427 engine (390hp) I was told the engine came out of a 69 Impala SS (may also be availible for sale). The truck was running. driving and then the transmission started to leak and the truck was parked. Then it was moved into a field. and that's where I found it. broken windows. pieces taken off for other projects etc. The truck was in a area with dozens of old internationals from the same era. and after a long time. I finally got the owner to sell it to me. He had owned the truck since the 70's and knew the previous owner as well. It was a flathead ford engine when he acquired the truck. This truck has a lot of patina. the original paint shows though the door suggesting it's surplus heritage. as well as some numbering on the back of the cab. The truck's current drivetrain is the 427 as listed. a TH400 transmission. and the rear end is a 12 bolt out of a 1965 Impala. The truck has no glass. it is mostly complete. yet it needs everything. The seat in it came out of a old dump truck. The engine will turn over by hand. but unknown if it will run. I also don't know if the trans is good. or rear end. I was going to go through it all and have it rebuilt. It has one hooker header. and the other one he made from what looks like an old "do it yourself" header kit to clear the frame. This truck has an amazing past. and in my opinion is the ultimate true rat rod. This truck has been in project phase almost it's entire life. multiple engine swaps. stories of it "blowing a brand new macho t/a off the road" and so on. The international is sold on a bill of sale.

I bought this truck because I've always wanted to do a rat rod truck. I purchased a 2002 S10 as well to put the body on. The S10 is a factory Xtreme package. It's an extended cab. 4. 3L vortec. 5 speed manual. has 173k miles on it. The truck is a great daily driver. has cold a/c. everything works. trans shifts well. I did an intake manifold gasket on it. It has rear air shocks. Body is straight. except the tailgate has been sprayed with spray paint so the finish on it is poor. I have the clean and clear title to this truck as well. My plan was to shorten the frame on the s10 and put the international body on the s10 chassis. I wanted to rebuild the original drivetrain in the international and use it. Well this project has been sitting for a year now and I do get a lot of use out of the s10 I hate to see the international sit and do nothing. The price listed is for both trucks. you will have to arrange shipping/transportation. I don't want to sell this project. but I don't want to see it sit anymore! Please. if you are serious give me a call and I'll be happy to get you more photos and whatever you need!
