1936 Cord 810 Right-Hand-Drive Phaeton

Listed on behalf of Monte Shelton Motors.

As we are told. this Cord (Serial Number 2662H / Engine Number FB1044) was built at the Cord factory as a right-hand-drive car and shipped to India for use by the daughter of a Maharajah. Today. it still rides on Firestone 6. 50x16 bias ply wide whitewall tires stamped "MADE IN INDIA. " Sometime in the 1960's this car returned to the United States and was later acquired by a collector in Oregon who performed a cosmetic and mechanical restoration.

The body was repainted in brilliant red color. the top was replaced and interior refreshed as needed. While we have no written documentation today. it appears that the engine and drivetrain were rebuilt at that time. Today. the odometer shows 37 miles. which we believe was reset at the time of restoration. (The previous owner is now suffering from dementia and we have been unable to corroborate some of the details. )

Driving the car today is a wonderful experience. The original Lycoming V8 engine starts easily and runs smoothly with plenty of power. No smoke or other issues. On the road this Cord really performs. It shifts easily up and down through all gears at the touch of a finger. without hesitation. The Bendix shifting system works properly with no issues. The front wheel-drive performs perfectly with no noises. Car runs cool. The brakes stop the car smooth and straight. It is a wonderful driving car with every indication of being properly restored.

The body is straight with excellent panel fit and no signs of any accidents or abuse. Please see photos. The brilliant red finish appears excellent today with no crazing. cracks or significant wear. The interior is lovely. All gauges work. An auxiliary temperature gauge (reading in celsius) was installed under the dashboard at sometime in the distant past. The car has a factory radio which is present but not working at this time. Glass is excellent with no cracks. Tan Haartz cloth convertible top is in excellent condition.

This is a wonderful looking and driving Cord. The right-hand-drive makes this rare car even rarer. If you are looking for a Cord to show or go with a unique story. this is certainly a good one. A realistic reserve has been placed on this car in keeping with its quality and rarity. Please bid accordingly.

WE WILL HAPPILY SELL TO BIDDERS WORLDWIDE.

Thanks for looking and GOOD LUCK!
