For sale is my 1960 Jade Green beetle. This is a RHD UK semaphored car which makes it quite rare.
Please note this is not a show car. I have been driving this car daily for the past 6 months and it by no means perfect.
The body work is in great condition with only very minor imperfections. the paintwork polishes up amazing.
Engine is sweet as a nut. could do with a tidy up but I've never got round to this. For a singleport 1200 engine it is very nippy and whistles like a beauty!
Interior is tired and would benefit from a re-fit. it is over 50 years old. headlining is great and car has recently been re-carpeted.
Suspension. she has a 9 inch narrowed beam. fully adjustable with dropped spindles. Castor shims and a bump steer kit also fitted. The rear is 2 splines on notched spring plates and the rear floor pans have been flatted. She has been ran much lower than in the pictures and I can raise/lower to suit you.
The car has been driven very low and the underneath DOES show signs of impact with the tarmac (e. g a few bashes and scrapes) but as far as I'm aware nothing rotten/serious at all.
The bad bits. Left semaphore stopped working. under the bonnet was never painted. electrics could do with attention. mainly full beam. Ideally the brakes could do with a good service or bleed.
All in all this is a rare car in great condition. with a little more money/effort it could easily be show-winning.

I owned this car from 1967 until 1978 when I gave it to my son. I hope the fool who made the awful 'modifications' is proud of himself! I took the mileage from 64,000 to 130,000 and my son doubled that mileage. The engine is not original and if it is on the original chassis then there is a great deal of welding to be found! Do you have the original logbook? If so, you will see my name and Lee's name. I paid £247 for it, when the mileage was 64,494. It served me well and deserves to be restored to its original specification or respectfully destroyed!
