The engine is its original 1192cc 34hp 4cylinder with a 4speed manual transmission. The carburetor was recently rebuilt and this VW runs beautifully. It starts. nbsp;runs. drives. shifts and stops like it was new. You can start enjoying this car the minute you get it home. Nothing is needed. As far as we can tell. this VW has had a repaint in its original Reed Green roughly 15yeas ago. The repaint was very nicely done and is in excellent condition today. There is one small chip by the drivers side vent window as shown in the photos. Aside from that. the paint still shines over a rust free California body. The interior seating and door panels were refinished recently by the original owner. The dash is in excellent unrestored condition in its factory Reed Green. All gauges are clear and easily readable. Headliner is in excellent condition. We purchased this Beetle in late 2013 from an 88 year old gentleman who says he bought this car NEW in California in 1955. He also says that the 17200 miles on the odometer are true miles but we could not verify that for sure. We can say for certain that we did purchase this Beetle from an older gentleman in California. Please note: We are not making a guaranteed claim that this is the actual mileage. We believe it is but can not verify the claim. Think of it this way. The car is priced fairly for a 1955 VW Beetle and not as if it had 17200 miles.
