The car spent the first 7 years of it's life in Washington but the majority of it's life was here in Southern California -- always garaged.

The interior is in great condition with no holes or tears.   I was thinking about having the seats dyed but never got around to it -- the car would look like brand new if someone did that (est. $250) and redyed the carpets.

Such a unique car!   Can you name another rear drive. mid-engine 4-seater convertible?   Any make/any model. ?

People joke about the rear seats being nothing but a novelty -- far from it.   With the front seats up a little. there is plenty of room for adults to site in the back comfortably.   Of course the people in the front. including the driver are a little jammed but those in the rear are great.

And the back seat converts into a 3rd trunk!  A VERY practical Ferrari -- the MOST practical Ferrari actually!

The lower spoiler was recently repaired and repainted so there's not a rock chip or scratch on it.   You do have to be careful with this piece because I've hear that the Mondial is actually the lowest Ferrari because of the extra length to accommodate the second row of seats.

The Mondial looks like a completely different car with the top up and down.   Which is your favorite?

More with the top up.

I moved out of the country about 5 years ago and registered the car in Nevada along with myself.   The car stayed in a warehouse in California and someone went by once a month to start it up and idle for 5 minutes.

This is the best year ('89 or newer) for the Mondial.   Do not buy the '88 3. 2 or older -- it's a completely different car. handles bad. no ride control. fickle engine. etc.

You can barely see but the 3-position switch in the top left of the center console is the ride control.   You can set it to soft. medium or hard.   It makes a HUGE difference.   On the freeway the soft setting makes the car feel like a big Lincoln Continental and with the hard setting you need to wear your sports bra because you feel ever bump.   This is a case where the Mondial has features that even the similar year 348 didn't have these extra niceties.

Yes. that is the original miles!

I did have a full engine-out service about 3k miles ago but that was in 2004 so you could change the belts and stuff if you wanted to -- everything looks like new.   I recently changed the air conditioning pump but didn't recharge it yet because I was debating on redoing this service.   It's probably unnecessary but some Ferrari owners would probably do at least an abbreviated engine-out service (e. g. belts and seals).

I do have the original tool kit. owner's manuals and a big folder with all the service records.

Here's a copy of the original sales receipt and the ad that I responded to when I bought the car back in 1995.   If you don't beat it up then I'd be willing to bet that you won't lose a dime on this car in the next 10 years.

----

This was my first Ferrari -- the one I dreamed about my whole childhood and finally picked up at the first opportunity.

The car has been bulletproof except for the transmission. There must have been a manufacturing defect around this time because it seems the hardening broke off the gear and went all through the gearbox -- I bought new gears and rebuilt it ($4500) only to have it happen again 6 months later. I then bought a used gearbox with 2. 00 mile from a '92 348 and haven't had a problem since -- that was 15 years ago.

Of course it has had the nose re-painted maybe 8 years ago and a valet once scratched the rear bumper so that's been repainted but the car is about as straight as you will ever find. I'm not a diaper wiper so it has maybe been waxed 3 times in past 20 years but the paint is good and hasn't been overbuffed (or buffed at all for that matter).

Besides the transmission problems. the only other things that needed to be replaced were the cats (about 6 years ago) and the AC pump which I just did recently.

With the new catalytic converter. it passes California smog without an issue and has a clean California title although it's been registered in Nevada (as I previously mentioned).

This is my baby. it's been good to me and deserves a good home.
