1953 HUDSON HORNET MODEL FOUR DOOR TWIN H POWER STARTS GOOD AND RUNS GOOD DOES NOT OVERHEAT. SHIFTS SMOOTH 84. 00 MILES
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FEATURED IN CARS & PARTS MAGAZINE APRIL 2014 PAGE 67
The Hornet is equipped with a 308 ci. L-head six. one of the largest six-cylinder engines in the world at the time. The six was originally rated at 145 horsepower but Hudson's interest in racing lead to the ‘Severe Usage' package. a factory-prepped and dealer-installed collection of thinly disguised high-performance options for the motor. By offering the option to the public. Hudson was legally allowed to compete in NASCAR back in the day when stock cars were actually stock. The package included a larger bore. bigger valves. ported and polished combustion chambers. high compression head. high performance cam. split dual exhausts. and a pair of single barrel Carter carbs called ‘Twin H-Power'. The result was an increase of 85 hp for a total of 230 hp. Wins on Sunday helped with sales on Monday and in 1953 Hudson sold more than 27. 00 units. Recently replaced belts and hoses. Also a fresh set of Coker G-78/15 Wide Whites. With roomy accommodations inside for six and Hudson's famous handling. the car is a joy to drive. GM Hydra-Matic transmission The eight tube radio with its unique hideaway antenna in the center of the windshield was a $100 option but the electric clock and heater were standard. Radio is not working but I will include a spare radio for parts. Complete recent tune-up including points. plugs. spark wires. Distributor cap. condenser and starter solenoid. Battery cables.
Complete new interior including seats. door panels. carpet and headliner. Recent repaint with very good original chrome.
Includes owners manual. shop manuals. originals not reprints.
