For Sale "Bev" our 1972 Volkswagen Westfalia Type 2 Camper

Bev was purchased new in 1971 by an American couple Ross and Elaine Chatelain from Kalamazoo. Michigan.   Unlike your normal car purchase the Chatelains ordered the Bus direct from Volkswagen then flew to Germany to collect her. Once in possession of their new camper they proceeded to tour Europe. stopping in numerous countries along the way (the rear side window still has many of the stickers showing the places they visited). Once they had finished their tour the Bus was shipped back to America via New York. then they toured the US until they settled in Colorado. The Bus comes with the original build sheet. a copy of the bank transfer for the payment. the import papers at NYC and a pile of other interesting history.

A few years back they sold the Bus and it ended up in the hands of Volkswagen enthusiast Tim Walbridge who runs Folkswerks in Beverton. Colorado. He went through the bus. rebuilding the brakes with new callipers. wheel cylinders. shoes flexis etc. He lowered the Bus a couple of inches the correct way using Wagen Works drop spindles. with a spline tweak on the rear and adding Bilstien shocks all round. nbsp;powder coating the wheels and adding the correct commercial rated tyres. For his first camping trip he went to Beverley Beach and this is where Bev got her name from.

We purchased Bev in July 2012 importing her to the UK. we carried out the work required to make her road legal for the UK and once registered started to use her for family holidays. days out etc. We are now sadly selling her due to a new project.

Fitted with the 1700cc Type 4 Engine. Bev drives superbly with plenty of power. The gears are very positive. the steering light with no play. the brakes are extremely good thanks to being fitted with a servo from the factory. All the locks still open with one key. Bev has a Westfalia Miami interior that's in good condition with a rock and roll bed fitted with two seat belts. a bunk in the pop top and a childs bunk for the front cab. She has all her original curtains along with the front screen curtain and the cab divider. Body wise she is rock solid underneath thanks to being wax oiled from new and living in a dry climate. she has a few small dinks and dents and some stone chipping to the front. We recently fitted a Vintage speed stainless steel back box and stainless steel hubcaps.

Bev is a pleasure to drive and even my wife commented on how easy the gears were to use (compared to other vans) and how she had a lot of power for a vintage van.

12 months MOT.

Tax (exempt) until the end of October 2014

£14000. 00 ovno
