Hi. first may I apologise for the hard to read solid block of text. It has formatting and correct layout on the editing page but it is not translating into the advert for some reason. Hello eBayers and welcome to my advert for my beautiful 1985 Citroen 2cv6 Special in rare blue tropique. with galvanised chassis. I have owned the car since June 13. when it was structurally excellent but cosmetically challenged. During my ownership I have used and improved the car. with a good session working on the mechanicals in November '13 and the cosmetics continually since February. The car is now about where it should be in terms of generally excellent condition throughout and has had quite a lot of money spent on it. It has been great fun and I absolutely love it. but I'm thinking about trying to buy a house and so I need to cut my 2cv collection down to more manageable levels. The car has an Mot until Jan 2015. and is taxed until the end of June 2014. It has covered 101. 00 miles and I am the seventh owner which is pretty much par for the course for a 29 year old classic car. To give you more information about the car. structurally and bodily I would say the car is generally excellent. but not concours (and I mean in the true sense of concours award winning. not most ebayers definition of concours - i. e. actually a bit shabby when you check it in the metal!). The car had clearly had a significant amount of work before I bought it including new floors. sills both sides and front bulkhead (inner and outer). I imagine that this was all done when the galvanised chassis was fitted as it had been done pretty well (and I'm fairly picky about the quality of welding on most 2cv's) and to get such a good job I expect it was all done with the body off. There is also evidence of a repair in the back of the boot floor which is tidy and I think a very small one at the front edge of the boot floor too. Otherwise. all the usual rust spot areas look original and remain tidy such as the rear seatbelt mountings. inner rear wings. under the quarter windows and the windscreen frame and bonnet hinge. There is no where on the body that needs welding now or in the near future. I would estimate that the whole car was resprayed Blue Tropique approximately 5 years ago. The car has always been this colour checked against the few places where you can see some original paint. The quality of the paint finish is pretty reasonable. but there is the odd bit of grit or hair etc stuck to it. It shines up nicely and the car looks very smart when parked up. Really close inspection highlights the odd small scratch here and there and the car is largely dent free. There is a small dent in the offside rear wing and some defects in the paint on the offside rear sweep by the offside rear lamp. I suspect an old rear bumper was pushed forward at one end in a minor knock and it contacted the rear of the wing and tail panel. I have touched up the paint but not plastered filler or anything nasty over it. The car has recently benefitted from a new rear bumper and resprayed front over riders. The front bumper on the car is still in decent condition and was on the car when I bought it. The car also appears to have had the vent flap replaced with a white one. This is excellent and there is not rust on the underside of it where they all rot out. The bottoms of the doors have had some rusting but it is not visible on the outside. and the rubber sealing strips are all decent on all four doors. I have tidied them up to prevent any further deterioration. and it is not noticeable. The inside of the back doors under the rear windows are excellent as are the window frames on the front doors. The car also retains both sides the correct bead rolled edge front wings that are original to this vintage of 2cv. Mechanically the car has generally been gone through. On purchase it had a mismatched set of tyres and upon checking. I found several of the road wheels were dangerously rust bumpy on the inner faces. I have since replaced any defective rims with excellent ones. had the set of five shotblasted and resprayed them correct gris rose and fitted new centre caps. The car been sourced a set of five matching Firestone 125's all with at least 5mm tread including the spare. The wooden chock. jack and handle are all present. I have otherwise gone through the mechanics trying to rectify anything I came across. I replaced the offside king pin. offside track rod components. a couple of split driveshaft gaiters and have since replaced all the exhaust clamps and all six of the heater tubes. The two wings dump tubes are the updated rubber type that seal in the wings. I also degreased the engine bay. engine side of the bulkhead and the inner wings to degunk the engine bay. It is not spotless but tidy and much easier to work in now. The car has just had a service with new engine oil and filter. checked gearbox oil. spark plugs. ht leads. and air filter. It is on original points and condenser but is running so well at present I didn't want to change them. The car drives well and just as a 2cv should. with no odd bangs or rattles. Things like the brakes. exhaust and shock absorbers are all normal and correct. I've driven this car all over the place and can confirm like almost all 2cv's I've had that it's been reliable and starts easily hot or cold. In terms of the general trim. this is where most of the investment has gone. I like to try and keep my 2cv's quite original. so the car has had a brand new set of the correct stripey hessian type seats fitted front and rear. These were built over new upgraded inch thick foam. and I replaced the rubber bands and hessian inserts as and where needed. I also had a split in the drivers seat frame repaired. The seats are now really comfy and fresh looking. The bulkhead was stripped down and a new bulkhead lining kit fitted above and below the parcel shelf. This in turn lead me to take the dash board backing plate out and repaint it. as typically fixing one bit made the next bit look tired. Under the same scenario. the doorcards were replaced with an excellent black set. and the rubber mats front and rear cleaned up. The roof has also only just been replaced with a new one in Lagune blue (the closest match that ECAS have available). I also spent long hours going round it putting all the little bits of trim that drop off or go missing back on. It now has almost all of the little bits back in place like the cardboard covers over the rear lamps. the rear door finger guards correctly fitted. the inner door handle plastics and other similar bits that are often missing even on the really expensive 'restored' cars you often see on eBay. In terms of paperwork and history. the car didn't really come with much beyond a few old Mot certificates. I have kept the various ECAS bills and other bits from my tenure. plus the correct v5c in my name and current Mot certificate until January next year. The only advises were a tiny chip spot on the windscreen (I think the tester was looking at a different car. I can't see what he was looking at). and both kingpins having minor play which is a constant with my test station. In summary then. the car has pretty much been gone through from front to back by someone who has had enough of them to know what to look for. and the skills to properly rectify anything that is of issue. In my opinion. all major items have been addressed and fixed during the last ten months and the car is about as good as you would want. if you plan to use it rather than just be a show queen (that said it would show perfectly well. but you might want to get all anorak with the bottle of polish). It has been reliable while I've had it and with minimal continued maintenance. it should provide plenty more years of good service. Prices have been gently rising over the last couple of years as demand is beginning to outstrip supply for decent quality non rot-box 2cv's so it should prove to be a sound investment that at least should hold it's value. It is also one of my all time favourite 2cv colours! The car is available for viewing in the village of Kimpton. near St Albans in Hertfordshire. If you want to ask any further questions or arrange to view I am contactable on 07765 713967 or ask the seller a question. I generally find that cash as payment works best for everybody. I am not really interested in taking part exchanges for it but as I have some weird 2cv buying affliction (i. e. I have trouble saying no. ) I might consider a cheaper 2cv plus difference. Ok. I think that's about it. Thanks for reading to the end.
