The flagship model of the Mercedes range from 1979 until 1992. the W 126 S-Class was over six years in development. the aim being to produce the best executive saloon on the market. Beautifully built and far more economical that the previous S-Class. it came in both saloon and coupe forms with engines ranging in size from a 2. 6-litre straight-six to a 5. 6-litre V 8.

All were immensely safe and capable machines that were designed to barrel along the fast lane of the German autobahns all day long without a murmur of protest from car or driver. The 560 SEL was produced from 1986 to 1992 and was the flagship Mercedes luxury saloon powered by a smooth eight-cylinder 300 bhp engine which gave it a top speed of 150 mph and achieving 60 in 7. 5 seconds.

This ultra rare Long Wheel Base 5. 6 litre car has only covered 75. 00 miles from new and has had 1 senior driver all its life. This car was originally purchased by the owner of an Oil corporation in 1987 and registered as SAM 22. the car was driven by his chauffer until the company closed down in 2005. The chauffer then purchased the car and used in sparingly thereafter. There is an ownership change in 2006. where the car was transferred to his wife's name. (This is shown on the log book).

The car has been Garaged ALL ITS LIFE . it is in exceptional condition both inside and out. It also has a very high factory specification. the options include:

The car also has full electric front seats with memory. electric rear seat adjustment. rear foot rests. a two tone horn. air conditioning. electric tilt and slide sunroof. electric passenger door mirror. power steering. headlamp wash/wipe. as well as a lot more.

The tyres are the original spec 215-65-15 s all round. All the wheels are in very good condition. with only very minor edge curbing on a couple of the wheels.

Having been garaged all its life. the Paintwork is simply fantastic. there are no unsightly scratches or dents. There is no rust or corrosion what so ever anywhere on the car. this is a very genuine car with original panels and glass throughout. The bonnet insulation is in excellent condition (most have disintegrated).

Original factory grease is still visible - after 27 years!.

The interior reflects the condition of the outside the seats. carpets and wood are all in exceptional condition. There are no tears. cracks or breakages anywhere. All the switches (And there are lots of them) work as they should.

With an MOT until November 2014 the car drives beautifully. The 5. 6 V 8 has to be experienced. it is silky smooth and very powerful. The difference between the smaller engine models is night and day.

The Engine area is tidy. again with no signs of any damage. The air filter cover is still chrome – I have never seen one like this. they all go faded or grey! The boot area is also tidy. the Jack looks unused. The spare wheel. tool kit. and warning triangle are also present. There is also the unused first aid kit in the rear shelf.

There are a couple of negative points that need to be pointed out (totally minor in the grand scheme of things):

There is a small dent on the chrome on the front and rear bumper (these are sectional so can easily be changed)

The tyres will need changing in future (an advisory)

These is the only advisories on the MOT as the pads have been done.

A W 126 with this mileage and condition is very hard to find. Insurance is under £100 with a classic car policy
