Roadster, Porsche 914 was developed with attraction of experts of the company Volkswagen. During the whole period of production, there was a tendency to the improved performance of the engine. Torque increased from 132 N*m up to 160 N*m. Maximum speed increased from 186 km/h up to 192 km/h. Significantly reduced time of acceleration up to 100 km/h - 13,3sec to 10.5. Together with the improvement of high-speed characteristics of the growing weight of the car - original 940kg increased to 980kg, after which the company has undertaken a number of measures, which allowed to reduce the weight of the Porsche 914 to 950kg. Wheelbase remained unchanged - 2450mm, also not undergone significant changes manual 5-speed transmission.
The car was produced until 1976, was released 121 thousand cars of this model, of which a little more than 3 thousand received six-cylinder engines.
