1997 Saab 9000 Aero Auto

Up for sale is my 1997 9000 Aero Auto in Scarab green, with Sand/Beige leather, it's done 208,000 miles and is a Cat N (Non structural damage)

If you're still reading, you'll know how special these Saab's are. Firstly the mileage, this car comes with a massive History file, detailing its life from 2004, where everything is catalogued in a hard folder and handwritten notes in a separate book. It has been cherished, serviced on the dot, and loved by Saab enthusiasts.

It's had an Abbott exhaust fitted at a cost of £1150, which sounds amazing (My local MOT centre changed the front section to standard get it through the emissions) but I still have the Abbott front section too.

The History is really comprehensive and makes for great reading. The previous owner told me it had been uprated to 290BHP, I can't see this receipted, but I'd say that it would show a clean pair of heels to my 9-5 Aero's, it is seriously quick.

Regarding the Cat N status, I got nudged by a LHD Roadsweeper lorry on a roundabout, the near side panels suffered deep gouges (I have photos of the minimal damage which I can email) I sourced two good doors via the Owners club, and it was repaired and resprayed by my trusted local garage to an excellent standard , needless to say I have the receipts for work done.

It's a very quick car, the auto box is seamless, and it turns heads wherever it goes, that throaty exhaust note helps though!

It has the Anniversary steering wheel, sunroof, walnut door cappings, which are peeling, but I'll include a tin of yacht varnish, I've just never got round to doing it. The drivers seat hide is quite worn, no tears etc, just cracked, the foam is still plump and holds you in glorious Saab comfort.

Bodily it's good, very straight along the flanks. 9000's seem to suffer from Car park dings, but this is very good. The arches NSF and OSR have the beginnings of bubbling, very minor, but I'm sure the new custodian will keep an eye on it.

If I was to keep it, I'd have the wheels refurbished, new tyres and bushes, but my 9-5 wagon just suits my needs better at the moment. Redundancy and the loss of my company car means I can't afford the luxury of a “Weekend car”, it's a heartbreaker, but it deserves to be cherished by another Saabnut.

Please don't expect perfection, it's a lovely 9000 Aero that has been shown at Classic Car events, it's not concourse by any means, would benefit from a T cut and polish, but is ripe for making into a stunner with a bit of investment.

Air con needs re gassing, drivers heated seat not working.
