The name “Triumph” Instantly brings to mind the iconic British sport cars of the 1960's land the TR4 was defiantly one of those cars!  Code named "Zest" during development. the car was based on the chassis and drivetrain of the previous TR sports cars. but with a modern Michelotti styled body. The TR4 had great success and sold 40. 53 units in its production span and carried on the “hairy chested” rugged image as previous TR's had enjoyed.

The TR we have here is no exception to that image originally purchased by its current owner nearly 20 years ago the TR has been transformed in to the rally car you see today. Built for Historic rallying the owners have enjoyed great success over the years and is a veteran of the gruelling 4 “Le Jog” rally where it finished!!

The body is in good condition for its age having had some work done to it over the years and virtually rot free. The panels are again in good shape having had GRP wings fitted to it which we know is not to everyone's taste but it is purely built for rallying!! The chassis is again in good shape with no rot or visible damage that we can see. All four wheels are the correct 60 spoke 15 inch wire wheels as fitted from the factory  The TR is mechanically spot on the engine starts on the button with no knocks or detrimental noises and pulls exceptionally well as you would expect with a car of this nature ! The gearbox is a delight to use and changes gear cleanly and smoothly and is free from any whines or groans. The brakes are discs to the front with drums to rear and pull the car to stop quickly and smoothly

The interior is in the true rally style. Stripped out! fitted with two original Triumph “bucket” seats fitted with “total” three point harness's the driver instantly gets the feel for the car with its Moto Lita leather steering wheel your instantly whisked back the the 1960's!.

Over the last 20 years or so the TR has and numerous upgrades for it to compete in the historic rallying scene which include the following. A full rally spec rewire including the repositioning of the fuse box to the glovebox. Laycock electric overdrive (on 3rd & 4th. Revington lightweight bottom pulley. Kenlowe electric fan conversion. Upgraded to a alternator. /span>

Aluminium larger capacity fuel tank. Uprated rear leaf springs and fully poly bushed. Uprated to a “Quick” rack. Uprated front and rear shock absorbers with uprated front springs. Revington front & rear anti roll bars. Full sports exhaust. “Green Stuff” front pads. Unleaded conversion. The interior is equipped sparsely as expected and is installed with map reading lamps and a regulation trip meter.

This TR4 is an exceptional example of a historic rally car and will bring its new owner many years of competitive enjoyment!!
