A Beautifully proportioned 20hp Cabriolet by noted Builders Joseph Cockshoot of Manchester who set up as a carriage builder in 1844. Cockshoot bodied a number of early Silver Ghosts that went to Maharajahs in India & are noted for the quality & stylish nature of the bodies they produced.

This car had a major restoration to perfection in the 1970's culminating in no lesser feat then winning the masters trophy at the R. R. E. C. gathering. We like to properly road test all cars we take in so this particular 20 is being driven during the first week of October in the Via Hellenica comprising of a 1000 mile loop though Greece in the company of a silver ghost & 25 other pre war cars. Indeed I write this description from the poop deck of Superfast Ferries Ancona to Patras service with the 20 safely stowed below decks.

The car is resplendent in Maroon & black with the paint being of high quality & in fine order. To the rear of the car is a vast & immaculate motoring trunk whom's commodious dimensions allows for a plethora of luggage to be accommodated in it. To the interior is Bedford cord to the rear including the useful twin fold out occasional seats. all being in fine shape. The front has patinated antique style olive brown leather again in fine order with some light creasing & patination. The car comes with its starting handle & large tools in place.

A full quotient of period instruments adorns the wooden dash. The Vee windscreen has a useful shelf behind it clearly & presciently intended by Messrs Cockshoot & Co to be the resting place for an iphone plus when used in navigation mode. The windscreen folds open allowing for a pleasant breeze to come through in warmer conditions. The car has a wind up division affording the rear passengers very good protection when in the up position with the windows up & the roof down.

The coachwork is of the highest quality & may be use in one of three configurations to wit: fully open. half open with the front folded back. or fully closed. There are three doors for ingress & egress with the drive exiting via the passenger front door. The font roof section has two latches & then folds easily back over the rear section. The rear pillars are spring loaded & easily allow the remainder of the roof to fold down which is then covered by a mohair hood bag. The hood is of recent construction & is like new; surprisingly snug when in the up position.

Under the bonnet the engine is silent & beautifully detailed right down to the brass oil can sitting in its appointed place on the under tray. The engine is silent & pulls well allied to the easy to use three speed gear box. The car sits on correct straight sided wire wheels shod with 4 good tyres. A single spare sits in the passenger side running board. The car has a raucous klaxon to augment the slightly more mellifluous bulb type parp parp horn. The engine runs equally well on either coil or magneto.

This is a very versatile car allowing for the carriage of up to seven people. It is in impeccable order. running beautifully & carries its full compliment of period fixtures & fittings. Much money has been spent on it to bring it to its current fine order which along with its rare coachwork makes it a highly desirable car.
