We previously sold this car to Germany some 7 years ago. Since then it has covered a scant 4600 miles. When I was first approached to sell it the then owner. one Mr Graham Tyson of 20 Ghost club fame simply told me his 20hp was the finest in the world. I fired up my trusty Cherokee & flew down to Cornwall. expecting to have my hopes dashed. but I have to say Mr Tyson was as good as his word; The car was utter perfection having had a massive & exhausting restoration.

The chassis was completed on 26 03 1923 and was sold to E Morcom. the chairman of AJS motor cycles

The R-REC confirmed by letter dated 20th March 1990 to DVLA the following:- the car is a very early open tourer in a most original condition. From our records we can confirm that this is the only open tourer bodied by Charlesworth on a 20hp chassis and additionally the fourth oldest tourer in the UK. I have their copy of this letter on R-REC letterhead in my records.

In the 1960's the car went to America and was sold to the Harrah Motor Musuem in Utah where it stayed until the end of the 1980's. When it came back to the UK it was acquired by the then Chairman of the 20-Ghost Club and he had a major restoration carried out by Ristes at a cost. then. of around £70. 00. We have the full records of what was done. which was an enormous amount.

It was sold on. in 1995. to another 20-Ghost Club member who did not use it a great deal. It was acquired from him in October 2007 and in early 2008 four new Dunlop tyres and tubes were fitted. and the engine was stripped down to its basic components (we have photos of this) and anything that looked suspect was replaced. s were jets and needles. rotor arm. brake shoes. a front wheel hub. full radiator test and flush. all sludge traps and waterways cleaned out. During 2008 a total of £6. 30. 03 was spent in bringing the car to the superb mechanical state it is now in. In April 2009 it had a full service and oil change carried out. Again. we have full documentary records of all of this.

A very early car in simply impeccable condition. It has a three speed central change gear box & rear wheel brakes. The mascot is of solid sterling silver so caution is suggested when leaving it unattended!!

The engine is utterly silent & will pull away from standstill in third gear with perfect grace. Likewise the car drives exactly as it should. The car is fitted with overdrive that makes for effortless 55MPH cruising.

The engine bay is immaculate & of a quality suitable to win prizes at shows.
The car was driven 700 miles prior to its previous sale from Cornwall to Kelmarsh Hall which is typical of the type of journeys for which the owner uses it. & at which it excels.

The coachwork is an original touring body by Charlesworth in superb condition finished in blue over black. Twin sidemounts are fitted to the running boards & a period motoring trunk is usefully mounted upon the rear. Under the trunk are twin divers helmet lamps per side. incorporating brake lights & turn signals.

The interior has recent blue leather complimented by blue carpets. An Auster style rear screen shields the rear occupants.

Not the cheapest 20hp on the market. but certainly one of the best. This is a car that may be bought & pressed into immediate use in the sure knowledge that it will provide many many thousands of miles of trouble free motoring requiring nothing more then regular maintenance as per the handbook.

A whole sheaf of bills comes with the car. detailing the manifold works completed upon it. Rarely do we get a 20hp of such quality & it is an utter pleasure to be handling it again.
