1972 Original VW Bay Camper Van for sale
Current customer rating:
Reluctantly for sale is our beloved William. 1972 Cross-over T 2 Bay who has been with us for 3 yrs. It was love at first sight. all other "Fully Restored" vans (ie. having had all original character ripped out and replaced with generic shiny new interior and rock n roller bed) leaving us cold.
The beauty of Wills lies in his authenticity.
I've never seen a van his age that retains all its original features inside and out (bar one wheel arch that was starting to rust so we had replaced and being painted Niagra Blue on top of his original white).
He has original solid oak Devon Moonraker interior with the double bed that fits together like a jigsaw. cooler fridge. gas hob. sink. two child's hammocks and pop up roof and oodles of storage.
We spent a month travelling around France with our toddler and it was the best holiday ever.
The freedom you get with being able to drive around the open country and pull up where you fancy. is priceless.
We still have the original driver and passenger seats without head rests.
He had a fully refurbed engine fitted which has done <8000 and never misses a beat.
All he needed doing for his last MOT was new windscreen wipers! He is starting to show odd bubbles around the bottom and has a very slight oil leak (needs new seal. simple/cheap job apparently).
We have a box of receipts for everything that has ever been done to him.
Previous two owners have really looked after him obviously always kept him indoors. as have we.
He has more than earned his keep being rented for weddings & weekends and is tax exempt. so he has been a far cry from the 'money pit' that many people warned us of when we wanted to by a classic camper! Our son cries whenever someone else drives him away. he really is one of the family.
He really is a special example and we'd only sell to someone who would conserve his integrity and charm.
If you are looking for original beauty and not a van that has been messed about with. William is your man/van.
Must view to fully appreciate.
If I could sell the husband instead. I would.
Selling with large drive away awning. waterproof soft cover and lots of others bits and bobs.
