According to factory records BVU150. a desirable Super Sports Model. was delivered to Morgan's Liverpool Distributor Colmore Depot on the 01/11/1934. Upon delivery. she was painted red with black wings and fitted with a correct (for the time) Matchless engine MX4 645cc OHV. I understand from the vendor that the original 645cc Matchless engine was lost sometime ago when a past custodian. who wanted more power. removed the 645cc Matchless. fitting a modern high power motorcycle engine. selling the original engine!

Following the current owners purchase of BVU150 in 1992. the now vendor undertook significant work to get the car back to her former glory very much as you see her today. completing a lengthy but meticulous nut and bolt rebuild. The original Beetle back body had seen better days. and it was decided that it was sadly no longer viable to be repaired. so a new Barrelback body was commissioned. and the new timber work was done to plans taken from an original factory car. so you could say it's inch/mm perfect to an original factory produced body (super sports came in both Beetle and Barrelback style). Along with the new body. BVU150 was also requiring a period power plant. so the hunt for a replacement engine ensued. It was hoped that the original Matchless engine would be found. however this was not to prove successful. Instead a highly desirable JAP 990cc Water Cooled engine was purchased. The replacement JAP engine was stripped. inspected and rebuilt. replacing bearings and bushes. while the bores and pistons showed little to no wear so only new rings were fitted.  Careful consideration to the stopping power/braking ability's of the period brakes was made. and it was decided that more was needed. so a sensitive and sensible hydraulic brake conversion was undertaken. front and rear shock absorbers were also fitted as believe it or not these weren't fitted as standard when new. Other important work during the rebuild included conversion to 12volt electrics. and new turning indicators with hazard function were also fitted at this point. Another useful addition at this time was the electric starter motor. along with twin cooling fans for those long hot summer days we have.

Following the complete rebuild she achieved her first MOT on the 11th March 2011 with her milometer showing 14 miles. BVU150 has only covered some 1068. mostly dry miles since. After much careful pondering she is reluctantly offered for sale to help fund another Morgan project belonging to the Vendor. Since taking delivery. I have had the opportunity to road test BVU150. Having never driven a Morgan 3 wheeler I can admit to being a little apprehensive at first. I can confirm I was presently surprised just how easy it was to get into the driving style and rhythm. which a Morgan 3 wheeler requires. On the twisty sometimes-narrow roads on my chosen test rout. she remained unflustered looking after her temporary and inexperienced pilot very well! The detachable steering wheel aids easy entry and exit from the cockpit. and the Barrelback body gives you the added benefit of a spare wheel over the original Beatle back design.
