1984/A MERCEDES W 123 230 E SALOON -
W 123 is the internal chassis-designation Mercedes-Benz used for their executive line of cars. manufactured between 1976 and 1985. The W 123 models surpassed their predecessor. the W 114 and W 115 models. as the most successful Mercedes. selling 2. 7 million cars before replacement by the W 124 after 1985.
This particular example supplied by Road Range Ltd (now known as Mercedes of Southport) on 14 th March 1984 to the first Owner Mr James Rushton of Southport who owned the vehicle up to June 2013 when he took it back to the dealership he bought it from to part exchange it for a brand new Mercedes A – class!
The vehicle was then bought by the second owner In January of this year from Mercedes-Benz of Derby. He was planning on keeping the vehicle for the long term until seeing a 1987 Mercedes R 107 280 SL we had in stock. Subsequently we then took the 230 E in part exchange.
This history file is something that is quite remarkable. We wrote to the first owner up in Southport who subsequently rang us with great happiness that the vehicle was still in caring hands and that it had been his “pride and joy”. He also made clear that he only sold it due to needing an every day vehicle that wouldn't need to be stored in a garage.
He also sent us a letter (which is supplied in the history file) explaining all of the history and where he had taken it for maintenance! (even down to the name and phone number of the main technician at Mercedes of southport!) He had been known on “first name terms” at Mercedes of Southport where the most recent service had been completed in 2012.
The overall condition of this vehicle is to be considered as
outstanding with the exterior of the car still finished in its Original “factory applied” Thistle green paintwork which works together with its completely original and untouched green cloth interior. The vehicle is non smoker owned from new and is fitted with an electric sunroof and windows.
Supplied with two sets of keys. 4 new tyres and ready to be enjoyed for many years to come. To be considered as an extremely good investment due to being one of the best on the market.
