Before describing the 1983 Hurst Olds. a little background on General Motors post-war philosophy would be in order.   Harley Earl came up with the idea of doing the advanced ideas for the general public via dream cars. concept cars and prototypes.   As everybody knows. this was extremely successful and the other Detroit manufacturers followed suit.   Some of these dream cars went into production like the 1953 Corvette and the 1953 Cadillac Eldorado.   What was really going on was that there styling cues that were incorporated into these dream cars later went into production cars.  

As an off shoot of this whole idea of limited production specialty cars. as the years went by private companies started to modify production to make their own specialty cars.   One of the most famous companies of all during the 1950s and 1960s of course was Hurst.   Hurst would always come up with unique ideas that have made their cars very collectible today.

The car that you see before you. the 1983 Hurst Olds is unique in that fashion.   However. it has one feature that is so outstanding that the folks here at MissChiTown were just amazed to find out that they were unaware of its visual and functional uniqueness…. that being the method for shifting the car.   We believe that this is the only car that ever had three shift levers in a center console.   It really takes a unique car and makes it spectacular.

Car History:

Hurst Olds were built in Lansing Michigan at the Oldsmobile Assembly Plant in June 1983.

The original and still current owner worked for Oldsmobile when car was built in the quality control division.

The owner was able to walk the car down the assembly line from start to finish.

All car specifications were strictly followed.

This Hurst Olds has been garage kept for its entire life.  

This car was never driven in Michigan winters.

This Hurst Olds was driven down to Texas in 1987.

This Hurst Olds has a custom cover and a front bra cover.

Owner has maintained car with tender loving care.

Owner has maintained all maintenance records.

All frame and engine numbers match.

There are a few minor paint issues other than that. the car is in excellent condition.

Original window sticker.

All belts and hoses replaced (twice) Recent 2010.

Recent oil change and lube at 21. 00 miles.

Includes original manuals.

Under-dash kill switch.

Transmission serviced 4/2013.
