Merlin 2+2 Kit car.
Get ready for the summer
“M” 1973 age related registration. 2 litre Pinto Engine. Cortina based on a 2000 e.
Bought in 2006 and extensively rebuilt for road use in 2010.
All the following are or were new after 2006:
5 speed Quaife straight-cut gearbox Complete Clutch & bearing assembly Steering rack & joints Stainless steel petrol tank (extended capacity)Stainless steel manifold and downpipe Stainless steel silencers (x 2)Shock absorbers Electronic ignotion Water pump Timing belt Cylinder head gasket Front and rear wheel bearings Front brake calipers Front brake discs Rear brake cylinders & pistons Stainless steel headlamps (dip & main)Stainless steel fog lamps All side lights. brake. indicator lens and ring assemblies Analogue electronic speedometer and gearbox sensor Oil pressure. temperature and volt meters BIG battery!
It has power assisted brakes.
Alloy wheels
It is oil tight (which is more than I can say for my Mercedes). no blue smoke and starts really well.
It has been completely rewired (with many “point to point” runs to avoid connector faults)
The rain hood was replaced (new) in 2009.
It has 6 months Mo T remaining but I would be happy to renew this for the buyer. I can also Tax it so that it is ready to drive away (I only had it taxed for the summer so this can be renewed quickly over the phone with the DVLC in 10 minutes)
It really sounds nice and easily rivals my Harley for turning heads along the high street in town. I love driving it but I enjoy my Harley Davidson just that bit more!
All the running gear. infrastructure. electrics. and mechanics are complete and in excellent condition. The bodywork could do with a re-spray to complete the car. That would have been this year's task but I've become a bit distracted… I've bought a new toy (Harley Davidson) so the Merlin has to go!
It went back on the road late 2010 but since then has covered less than 1500 miles. Each time I take it for its MOT the mechanic laughs because of its mileage and asks me if it is accurate. Well it is!
The Merlin is also for sale elsewhere so I reserve the right to end this listing early.
