You are looking at my 1965 VW Splitscreen camper. which I have owned for about 3 years.

It is mostly original paint and all the hard work has been done.   It was a California import. so was pretty solid. but the back end had been sitting on the ground without a gearbox. so it needed rear corners and battery trays. the rest of the welding work being localised repairs. which were all butt welded.

The suspension was completed at a cost of £3500 and comprises of a 4" narrowed adjustable beam. fully rebuilt drop spindles and a straight axle conversion. which uses a beetle gearbox and a narrowed torsion housing at the back. so really wide wheels can be fitted if required. you would just need to swap to short axles. which is a simple swap.   At the moment it is fitted with new Porsche 356 style 5. 5x15" wheels with smart car tyres.

The brake hardware is all new and I have a dual circuit master cylinder and kit ready to fit too.   The engine is a 1641cc and was rebuilt at considerable cost by a friend whose day job is working on million pound classic cars. so he is pretty precise with things!

The front seats are professionally upholstered and I fitted a laminate floor in the back. ready for an interior.   There is a new wiring loom fitted to the bus. which just needs final connecting.   There are new door locks throughout. both bumpers with brackets. fuel tank. all lights and gauges and lots of other things I have not mentioned I'm sure.

The bus has sat in the current condition for a year or so. as I just can't find the time these days to get it finished and use it.   For a professional it would take about a weeks work to get it into roadworthy condition. for an amateur. maybe 2-3 weeks work.

I have the Customs form showing duty paid and the California title. so it can be registered once it has an MOT.
