280Z - Ferrari 250 GTO - 400hp Twin Turbo for sale
Current customer rating: (410 votes ) based onI am selling one of my favorite cars. I have owned this car for 15 or 16 years now. I have always loved this car and want it to get finished. I never seem to be able to make the time for it so I figure if someone out there who also wants one of these awesome cars and know how cool they are then I would offer it up and perhaps we can finish building it for them. I am asking the $25k for the car as it sits. not finished.
It is a 100% rust free1978 Datsun 280Z chassis. When we started building this car we stripped it down to the frame and put it on a frame roller. It was media blasted to remove all the paint and debris then primed. zinc coated. and undercoated. You will never have to worry about rust! Then ALL of the fuel and brake lines were hand shaped and replaced with Stainless steel lines and stainless junction fittings.
The whole suspension was bead blasted and repainted with all of the bushings being replaced with urethane bushings and upgraded components like a solid rear diff mount. KYB struts. tokico springs. tokico sway bars. short front steering knuckes. etc.
The brakes were upgraded with 87-89 Nissan 300ZX front 2-piston calipers. Zinc coated X-drilled vented rotors. and Hawk Racing brake pads. The rear brakes were also upgraded to a caliper and rotor set-up rather than drums. We used 84-89 Nissan 300ZX rear calipers with zinc coated X-drilled rotors.
We had Compomotive make us a set of custom 3-piece wheels ($4200). They are 17 x 12 rears with 315/30/17 Goodyears and 17 x 9 fronts with 255/40/17 Goodyears.
The exterior is something really special. The kit we used is the last body kit produced by Tom McBurnie. He was the only builder who was successfully sued by Ferrari. He sold his molds to Stable Auto Werks (i Think that's correct) who remade them and changed them to be a little less Ferrari-ish. The kit was 3M bonded to the frame then molded. This kit will NOT crack! We used all Sickens lacquer and there are at least 6 coats of paint + 4 coats of clear. We added the original 3-stripe center that Phil Hill's personal GTO sported (his was silver with red. lue. and white stripe). We used white. green. and yellow because it is more Italian looking. This is easily an $8k paint job!
We have installed a 100% rebuilt VG30DETT engine/trans swap. The turbos are stock and they were brand new. We used a single front mount intercooler. 370cc injectors. a reprogrammed Z32TT ECU. etc. The engine has been started but the car has never been driven so there are "0" miles on the new engine or the turbos. There is an aluminum flywheel and a performance clutch installed but the hydraulics have not been addressed yet. meaning it needs the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder. then bleeding. The radiator is a stock Z32 radiator. We installed a front oil cooler and made all new metal lines from the engine to the oil cooler. The driveshaft was finished also.
What needs to be finished: All electrical. gauges. lights. etc. . fuel pump and fuel cell. intercooler piping. Dash. carpets. seats. weatherstrips. and the windshield and hatch glass need to be installed. I am pretty sure that is it. Whoever buys this car buys it "AS IS". If you would like to have us finish it that would be fantastic! I have wanted to finish it but it is my personal car and my stuff always comes last. We are always too busy and have tons of projects that we are building for others. Go to our zfever dot com to check out our work and see what we do. I would LOVE to finish this car but need the capital. I easily have $50k-$60k invested in this build. not to mention the labor hours it took to get it built
I have tried to be as thorough and accurate as I possibly could. If you have any questions or need me to take pictures of anything specific please let me know and I would be more than happy to. Sorry these pics DO NOT do this gorgeous car justice. I will move things around and get the car in the air if you want pics of the frame. brakes. etc. We also have pics of the car on our website at in the gallery section.
