Most of us. Skyline lovers eagerly anticipate 2014. when 1989 skylines are expected to be exempted from comply with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) & Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) regulations here in the States. I bought my 1989 skyline GTR 32 (BNR 32) in 2006 when I first got posted to be stationed in Seoul. Since then a mild tune yet precise & careful tuning has been added to Godzila. Firstly. I removed the old school T-78 single turbo with heavily thrashed rb 26 engine (original R 32) and installed a near new Vspec R 34 rb 26 dett from Japan. The engine has been tuned with HKS F-con Vpro with HKS full racing air-intakes & HKS fuel rail. Sard fuel regulator. Trust intercooler. HKS SSQV BOV. and other bits of aftermarket tuning parts have been added to the vehicle in order to obtain sustainable 420 HP wheel with 1. 0 pounds of boost. I really enjoyed the classic look of R 32 but wanted somewhat different & beefed up looks. wanting my vehicle to stand out among lots of Hyundai & Kia (Genesis coupe for example) so I decided to go for Bee-r 324 bodykit with R 34 Zenon lights & Audi style daylights. On interiors. since it is meant to be only a weekend toy with occasional track-driving rather than destined to be a super-track machine. I added a bit of alcantara touch inside. I am a motorsport journalist and I can honestly tell you that unlike many of troublesome skylines out-there. this one is hassle free and contains a good basic setup for more power and to be faster. Throughout my ownership. unlike any other European brands. it is a eye-thriller. weekend toy and gives you much pride & joy
