Up for auction today is a 1979 Mazda RX 7 with a BMW V 8 engine! This powerhouse is backed up to a clutchless 5 speed transmission. with overdrive. All modifications and fabrications were performed by me in my own shop. I chose this swap because of the high output and reliability of the fuel injected BMW 32 valve V 8 with 4 overhead cams. I have been a BMW dealer certified mechanic for years and this has always been one of my favorite engines. This car has been my daily driver for almost a year and it's time to move on to start another project. The goal of this car was to have a fully functional vehicle with a ton of power that would also be great on gas with an overdrive with the reliability of fuel injection for everyday driving. Unlike all the lower budget V 8 conversions out there that use the common inefficient carbureted small block Chevy or ford engines. this one is practical with more power. Custom interior with functional gauges (rare with V 8 swaps). 2 USB in dash charger ports. Auxiliary audio input for the amplified 4 speaker stereo with hidden 8 inch sub box. and custom fabricated center console with matching suede on both seats. Also comes with functional ticker clock on the dash :).

Under the car we have a steering rack and pinion conversion with stabilizer shock to improve high speed handling (no bump steer). Full custom exhaust with cats removed and a resonator to a Magnaflow muffler in the rear. We have a full throttle resonator bypass to get the V 8 sound and performance through the Magnaflow but also to have a quiet unsuspecting sound while cruising and idling (no headaches from exhaust noise on a long drive). The transmission is a manually shifted transmission with a patented "Clutchless H pattern" controller from Getawaycarz. com. This setup will blow your mind how fast it shifts and how easy it is to use.

The bad: The vehicle was made in 1979 so a little bit of rust is to be expected. There is a little rust in front of the left rear tire as you can see in one of the pictures. It is under the rocker panel so you can't really see it by looking at it. Also there are a few dings and dents on the hood. All the lights work properly but the headlights will not flip down.
