This is the Real Deal GS 455. Correctly VIN Coded AND Numbers Matching! Very Rare car with only 5. 89 Hardtop GS 455's produced for 1970. The Original 455 runs excellent. sounds great and best of all produces 350 Horsepower and 510 lb ft of TORQUE! Watch for the video! At 25mph. just floor it and it automatically shifts down. The tires instantly lose traction. as soon as it starts to get traction it upshifts to 2nd gear and starts burning them all over again. Once it gets traction then you feel the torque in the pit of your stomache and that sensation of 2 tons of Flint Michigan Metal being rocketed to speed. It is very hard to believe this is a stock car.
This is a nice looking GS with an older repaint done back in the 80's in the original Matador Red. It presents well and really has a survivor look. There are the normal stone chips and minor dings from 30 years of driving as well as a couple of bubbles at the bottom of each quarter but overall the car presents well. The chrome and bright trim are originals and a testament to how well this car has been treated for the last 44 years. The floors are in nice condition. The trunk pan has had a couple small repairs and looks nice with a fresh coat of 'Spatter' paint.
Inside the factory seats have been re-upholstered and are in very good condition. The original door panels are quite nice for their age. The carpet of course has been replaced and looks great. The instrument function properly (even the factory clock) and are in excellent condition.
The Numbers Matching 455 still wears its original Cold Air Induction System. It has been repainted in the factory Buick Red paint. It appears factory down to the original Quadra-Jet Carburetor. Firing this thing up is awesome. The Buick 455's are legendary for their low-end torque. In fact they produced more torque than any other Muscle Car. If you have not experienced one of these. you truly are missing out on a huge part of the era!
The TH400 3-Speed Automatic works properly. downshifts perfectly and really makes the most of the torque.
The factory 12-Bolt Posi-Traction Differential is the only unit GM had that could handle the power and it still works excellent!
The factory Styled Steel Wheels are still in surprisingly good condition. The tires are in good condition. but this car is truly begging for some 15" reproductions in an 8" front & a 10" rear width. Add some 255's on the front & 295's on the rear and give this GS the shoes it needs to get the power down!
