1951 Studebaker 1/2 ton Pickup Model 2R6-12 with Original Canopy, colector, LOOK for sale
Current customer rating: (520 votes ) based onThis beautiful little pickup came with the canopy when bought new in 1951. It was sold at Aldrich Studebaker in Lewiston Idaho. and the dealer installed the canopy. when new. These canopy's were built by Montana specifically. and were built for Studebaker. The windows of the camper were built by Air Stream. and the identifying tags are still on the side of the canopy. The truck was used as a fishing rig most of its life. then bought in 2003. and a frame on restoration was started. New paint was applied to a very original. and straight body. Only one ding was in the bed floor. so showed it's limited use. The original color was used on the body. and canopy. as it was originally. (it looks great. ) All chrome. and stainless is original and looks good. New door rubbers. window felts. rebuilt side window rollers. and all new glass were also installed. All new brakes. shocks. and complete rebuild of the front end. in 2004. The engine was rebuilt at 63. 30 miles. using only the best parts. This is the big 92 horse power engine offered in 1951. You can identify the big engine by the up rise ex host manifolds. It starts easy. and runs very strong. The truck has been rewired completely from one end to the other. In 2005 the owner did a transmission swap from the original 3 speed to a Studebaker 4 speed. with the granny gear. ( shifts very smooth) He also replaced the original rear end. with a GM 10 bolt. with 2. 90 gears. and the rear springs were re arched. This Studebaker runs down the road very nicely. with it's tall gears. It can cruse all day at highway speed. and drives like a new truck. (you can drive it home) The interior is done in tan cloth over the original seat. New cardboard head liner. new sun visors. and solder belts for safety were also added. A Studebaker radio was installed to the original dash. with its factory gauges. and heater controls. Rebuilt windshield wipers work as they should as dose the heater. A push button stater was added when the original foot starter was taken out. Its running new radial tires on the factory wheels. The truck is stored inside. but dose have a couple of rock chips in the paint. (very small. You can't see them in the pictures. ) The truck has been in several shows. and has taken home these awards.
Boise Roadster Show. 2005. First in class. Pickup. Restored to Original.
Studebaker Driver's Club Annual National Meeting. and Show. 2005. Second place in Class 7. Best Restored Pickup.
Portland Roadster Show. 2006 Winner in Class. Pickup. Restored to Original.
I'm listing this little pickup for the owner. and he has stated.
Reasons for selling: I'm restoring a "59 Hawk. I do not use the pickup much. only 150 miles on it last year. It needs to go to someone who will show it. and love it. and drive it. It is a reliable highway cruiser. Engine has only 5000 miles since the rebuild (now at 68. 00). Regularly maintained. All Parts and service is documented.
