Current customer rating:
PLEASE ALLOW ALL THE PICS BELOW TO LOAD - THERE ARE ALOT OF THEM.
If you're looking for an unmolested. great running and driving '67 440 GTX this car is worth your consideration. 73. 00 original miles (under 2. 00 average per year)Two Owners (previous owner bought the car in 1980 from down south) - never winter driven! All numbers matching drive train - engine. Automatic trans. rear-end!Black Stripes. Fender-mounted turn signals. Re-Chromed front and rear bumpers. front bump strips. original GTX slanted tips. AM Radio works great!Fender Tag!Buildsheet may still be in the car - although it isn't under the back seat (that was the first place I looked). Options include power Steering. Bucket seats. Console/floor shift. AC (inoperable - missing parts). Chrome 14" road wheels with bias-ply Red Stripe tires. HD Police brakes. Virtually rustfree!100% Original Sheetmetal. this car is straight! This car has been driven to the Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit as well as Charlotte. NC for the Good Guys Nationals - being an original. never restored car she cruises very well!
PAINT. BODY. FRAME & SUSPENSION
As stated above this is an all original sheet metal car. never hit. still painted in its original QQ 1 Dark Red Poly Metallic. The car was repainted about 35 years ago and is checking and getting thin mainly on the top surfaces. but it still presents well. I would classify this as a six-footer. not too bad. still very "cruise night" worthy as you can see. The black stripes go well with the car's black interior. There is slight bubbling above the right rear wheel arch as seen in the pics. you can't feel anything behind the bubbles on the back side of the qtr. It's been like this for the last 15 years. not getting any worse. perhaps it was bad paint prep? Lower rear quarters. trunk drops. rockers. lower fenders are all original metal and in good shape. The plastic drain plugs are still in the trunk extensions! The trunk is rustfree. has all the drain plugs and has been resprayed as has the engine bay. The undercarriage is super clean with no more rust that you would expect an original car to have. no undercoating (nice). the suspension is in good shape. new torsion bars are evident. and new rear air-shocks have been installed. The car has a great stance.
GLASS. CHROME AND TRIM
The glass is original date coded glass. all windows operate and line-up perfectly.
The front and rear bumpers are rechromed and in very good condition.
The stainless trim is in great shape. the rear glass is scratched a bit from what looks to be an ice scraper from back in the day. The head and tail lights work well. The flashers don't seem to work as does the right side blinker (it stays bright but does not blink. I suspect bad filament in one of the bulbs. I'll be checking this out shortly). The gauges all seem to wkr as does the speedometer and odometer. The door handles. diver's side mirror. antenna and inside door handles are also original and in great shape.
The front grill and rear tail panel are un-restored. and still look super nice.
INTERIOR
The black vinyl interior is 100% original and still in decent shape. nice all original condition. The console and glove compartment doors operate well. the driver's seat belt seems to have been replaced as it doesn't match the rest of them. Dash lights are original and should be replaced to be a bit brighter. AM radio works fine as do the wipers. horn. etc. The heater control works on the lower speed fan settings and blows hot and cold. the AC is missing some parts but is complete behind the firewall (I'd get a more effiecient "Vintage" setup to be more reliable). All factory gauges work and operate correctly.
DRIVE TRAIN
The strong running original numbers matching 440 makes excellent power and runs great.
This engine runs extremely smooth and very easy to drive in any given traffic condition.
The engine was pulled. had a valvejob and new gaskets installed at the time of the paint job years ago (currently the engine leaks very slightly. a quarter size drip per month).
The motor does not smoke. tick or make any noises… again it runs great with no issues. The 727 Automatic is the original #'s matching transmission and it shifts excellent through the gears and is an absolute blast to drive! The GTX has excellent drivability and cools well even in stop and go traffic.
This excellent drive train combo runs and drives awesome in all conditions whether highway or city driving.
As mentioned above it is a 8 ¾” rear end. with I suspect 3:23's (judging from my butt dyno). Other than the previous mentioned repaint and addition of electronic ingnition. the engine bay is very original Eastwood temperature paint was put on the original and very expensive 440 HP manifolds everything else is factory original and untouched.
Spare parts include:
1. ) Passanger Side mirror (never installed)
2. ) Chrysler Service Manual - 1967
