39hp. 1267cc L-head inline four-cylinder engine. three-speed manual transmission. independent with sliding stub axle independent front suspension. semi-elliptic underslung suspension and four-wheel drum brakes. Wheelbase: 92"

Morgan produced its first four-wheel car in 1936 out of necessity. Till then it had firmly established itself as a premier brand in three-wheel motoring. However the market for the three-wheeler had all but disappeared by the mid-thirties and an extra wheel was needed to keep the car company from tipping over into the red.

In May 1939 Morgan began using a new engine – the Standard Special. This engine was specially built by the Standard Company for Morgan and consisted of an
L-head 1267cc engine with an overhead valve conversion. producing 39hp at 4800 rpm. This engine was used until 1950.

Following World War II Morgan produced only 253 two seat models. making the car offered here quite rare and desirable. The present owner acquired this particular example in 1989 and as its condition deemed it capable. he entered and competed it in the Arizona Governor's Cup Rally only a few years later. The car was eventually completely rebuilt as necessary. including all the bodywork and wood. The car has been upholstered with top-quality leather and vinyl and has a new tan canvas top. full tonneau cover and side screens with storage bag. The vendor reports all instruments are correct and in excellent operating condition. The car starts. runs and stops like a new 1948 Morgan.

The owner reports that over $30. 00 was invested in the restoration of the Morgan without counting one penny for labor in the process. Great attention has been paid to details and originality; virtually all threaded fittings are of proper original British threads. The quality of the complete restoration performed on this car has resulted in a first place prize at each event shown. We understand the Morgan has only been driven approximately 50 miles since the restoration was completed. It is complete with the jack. lug wrench. manual and literature. This two-tone example of England's most charismatic sports car is in better than new condition and will provide its next owner with the thrill and exclusivity only a Morgan can provide.
