1988 LINCOLN MARK VII LSC LOW MILES CAR MUSEUM PIECE. BEST IN US? DOCUMENTED

2-22-2014 UPDATE:  THIS CAR WAS SOLD. BUT THE BUYER REPEATEDLY FAILED TO MAKE THE PAYMENT THAT HE PROMISED.   Therefore. we are re-listing.   PLEASE do not bid or commit to buy unless you are truly able to complete the transaction.   Thanks!

2-22-2014 UPDATE. I'm nutty about this car. the ONLY thing I found that didn't work was the automatic parking brake release.   So I drove over 150 miles to buy the ONLY NOS Lincoln part in Georgia to repair it. and now it too. works like new!

IMPORTANT NOTE:  THIS LIKE-NEW 1988 LINCOLN MARK VII LSC IS OF MUSEUM QUALITY.   It is NOT for everyone. it is for the most serious of collectors. for enthusiasts who want to win trophies at National and International levels of competition. for perfectionists. and for those who love Lincolns and just want to own one of the finest examples of American automotive engineering ever built.

CARS ARE ONLY ORIGINAL ONCE. You would not likely match the factory paint quality of this car for $10. 00 if you bought a lesser Mark.   The cheapest way to own an appreciating classic is to buy the BEST example that you can find. and this is it!

PLEASE NOTE: To show the almost unbelievable condition of this exceptional modern-day classic. there are well over over 100 images of this Mark VII.   BUT. to see ALL of the images. you MUST place your cursor on an image - allow plenty of time for all images to download - and then scroll slowly ALL the way to the bottom.   CAUTION:  if you use the scroller to the FAR RIGHT of your screen or the "Click to view image album" feature. you will NOT see all the images.

2. 61 TRANSACTIONS WITH HAPPY PEOPLE!  As of the date of this listing. we've had 2. 61 transactions (both buying and selling) on eBay without a single complaint. One of the keys to our selling success is the use of LARGER and MORE images than you will likely see in ANY other eBay listing. so you can CLEARLY see what you are getting.

QUESTIONS?  Please call Jim Murphy at 706-429-7924 if you have any questions that this description or the pictures at right do not answer for you.

THE LINCOLN MARK VII IS THE MOST CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED LINCOLN SINCE THE MARK II & 1961-1968 LINCOLN CONTINENTALS. and. by 1988 even more "goodies" had been added to the Mark VII LSC since its 1983 introduction. including a whopping 60% increase in horsepower from the 5. 0-liter V8. more torque. complete analog instrumentation. anti-lock brakes. and very handsome 16" cast alloy wheels. to name a few.

Together with the car's highly sophisticated air-suspension (which works flawlessly in this car and really "holds") and Recaro-inspired seats. there was NO other car on the market with ALL the Lincoln Mark VII LSC's features at even TWICE the price!  How many cars can make a similar claim with confidence today?

CAR & DRIVER MAGAZINE (1/86) proclaimed the Mark VII LSC as one of the TEN BEST automobiles in the world.

MOTOR TREND MAGAZINE (8/86) named the Mark VII LSC as a BEST BUY. and gave only "honorable mention" to the BMW 635CSi and Mercedes Benz 560 SEC!!

TOWN & COUNTRY MAGAZINE had Gucci. Rolex. and the like filling almost all of their pages - as usual - but even they took notice of the incredible milestone that the Mark VII LSC was by giving it a feature story entitled "Ford's Finest Hour".

FAMED AUTO-REVIEWER DAVID E. DAVIS. JR. - founder of AUTOMOBILE magazine - named the Mark VII LSC as one of only twelve ALL-STARS of the industry in the May 1986 issue and said: ". it is as good as anything from Europe" and that "The LSC provides a splendid example of what the U. S. industry can accomplish. when properly motivated. "

ROAD & TRACK (1986 Annual) said ". this car will give a (BMW) 635CSi a run for more than just money".

IN SUM. the MARK VII LSC re-established Lincoln's stature as a World-Class automobile.

THE STORY OF THIS MARK VII LSC. That this Mark VII LSC is in remarkably "like new" condition is no accident.   From the oral history given - plus the documentation that accompanied the car - the following storyline emerges and explains the extraordinary condition of the car.   It was purchased new by an executive's wife. and received light use by her.   It also stayed in the family for 20 years. passing to her daughter in 2004. who kept it until 2007. afterwhich it has been in appreciative collector hands ever since.

PRISTINE MARK VIIs ARE VERY HARD TO FIND. there are two reasons for this:  1) they were expensive cars and most people wanted to use them a lot to get their "money's worth". and 2) they were the BEST road cars that Lincoln ever made and could cover 250. 00 miles and more without a major overhaul.   So for these reasons. most Mark VIIs have very high mileage.

ONLY ORIGINAL ONCE. a car is only original ONCE.   The overall complexity of a Mark VII - the way a modern-classic such was designed and assembled - makes "restoration" prohibitive.   You could spend $50. 00 and more just trying to make the typical worn-out Mark VII look like this car.

BEST ON EBAY. BEST IN U. S. ?  I have belonged to the Lincoln Continental Owners Club for almost 30 years and have attended many of their national and local events.   I have never seen ANY original-condition Lincoln of ANY vintage that was in nicer condition than this car.   If the new owner is so inclined. the car would likely win First Place Senior awards on its first showing. and would be a contender for the highest echelon "Best of Show" class of awards.   Over the years. it will continue to appreciate - especially because it is ORIGINAL and because similarly fine examples of this car are practically non-existent.

EVERYTHING WORKS. and that means EVERYTHING. from the advanced trip computer. to the AM-FM Radio (cassette function is untested as I don't have any cassettes handy). to the Air-Suspension System (which has NO overnight "leak-down").

MOST ADVANCED TRIP COMPUTER OF ITS TIME. in addition to the expected "Miles Per Gallon" and "Average Speed" calculations. the Mark VII's trip computer had VERY high computational power.   You can input the total miles of your trip. and the car will continually make ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) calculations based on ALL the speed variations/time lapses that occur on your trip to give a continual update of when you will arrive!  Not even my pre-GPS Jaguar XJ could do that!

MODERN COLORS!  One of the most remarkable things about this timeless Mark VII. is that not only is the style of the car timeless. the COLORS are timeless too!  Lincoln's color choices - beautifully illustrated by the rare Lincoln Showroom Color & Upholstery Portfolio (included and shown at right)  - were WAY ahead of their time in 1988.   The Crystal Clearcoat Metallic exterior color is right at home on today's highways (Note:  Lincoln apparently changed the color code of Crystal Clearcoat Metallic to "19" from "1L" as BOTH codes reference the SAME color on the BASF paint chart for 1988 Lincolns).   Likewise. the "DA" Titanium Perforated LSC interior is also as inviting and fresh in appearance as $75. 00+ luxury cars on new car lots today.

BEST INSTRUMENT PANEL DESIGN AMONG MARK VIIs. the beautiful instrument panel transitions seamlessly into the console. much as the 1964-1966 Thunderbirds did.   But in 1990. Lincoln redesigned the dash and steering wheel in such a way that the seamless transition from instrument panel to console was lost.   Be assured that this 1988 example. has the interior layout exactly as the designers originally intended.

INVESTMENT POTENTIAL:  This is a historic Lincoln. which increasingly is considered a high watermark for American design.   Even General Motors' Executive Director of Design - Jerry Palmer - cited the Lincoln Mark VII LSC as one of the 10 best American automotive designs!

THIS particular Mark VII is a particularly good investment in its contemporary Crystal Clearcoat Metallic/Titanium Leather combination. EVERY aspect of the car. paint finish. body panel fit and quality. interior. engine compartment. and even the undercarriage are in amazing condition.   The original Marchal foglamp covers have been in place since new (removed only for photography) and protected the lenses which are as nice as when they left the Wixom factory on 1987.

In real estate. it's "location. location. location" that most influences value.   For any particular classic car. it's "condition. condition. condition" that is most important in determining value.

A Lincoln Mark II. Mark III-V (1958-1960) convertible. or even a 1961 Continental convertible with THIS car's low mileage and condition would approach or exceed $100. 00.   This Mark VII represents the next "wave" of highly desirable and collectible MODERN CLASSICS that will undoubtedly increase dramatically in value as its predecessors move beyond the reach of all but the most wealthy.

Once again. what makes a Mark VII like this particularly valuable is that these were fantastic road cars. and they were reliable.   So. people drove them to very high mileages. 200. 00 or even 300. 00 miles was easy to accomplish with reasonable care.   Therefore. there are almost NO low mileage Mark VII LSCs available.   In fact. it is far easier to find an original low-mileage Mark III. IV. or V than it is a Mark VII.   This translates to high future demand and value for the best examples.

ABOUT ME:  I am an avid car enthusiast.   After retiring from 30 years of sales and marketing in a Global 100 company. I formed Murphy Endeavors. LLC and began buying and selling classic cars as a collector and for friends and clients.   This Classic Lincoln is owned by my company. Murphy Endeavors. LLC.

Please note (as of 2-22-2014) that I have had  2. 61 eBay transactions with 100% Positive Feedback.   I have sold classic cars to happy eBay customers in Sweden. Switzerland. France. Australia. Russia. Canada. Japan. and throughout the United States.

CARFAX & ORIGINAL MILEAGE NOTE:  Every document that we have supports the mileage indicated on the odometer as original - with the exception of ONE oil change at a closed Lincoln Dealership where an inattentive service advisor apparently left the mileage (which was much higher NOT lower!)  from a previous vehicle in the computer screen that generates the receipt.   ALL other documents that we have - before and after this oil change - are consistent with the odometer mileage.   The CARFAX report shows the same SINGLE mileage inconsistency from the SAME oil change trip at the SAME closed dealership.

Importantly. CARFAX  - as shown at right - offers their Buyback guarantee on this car.   Be sure to contact CARFAX directly if you want to take advantage of their guarantee.   In sum. no guarantees can ever be made on mechanical-type odometers. but we feel the overall condition of the car and overall weight of documentation suggest that the odometer is correct.

Additionally. CARFAX confirms the following on this Mark VII:  NO accident/damage reports. NO "total loss" reports. and no NO structural or other damage reports.

IMPORTANT FINAL REMARKS. though this Mark VII appears and operates virtually as-new. we cannot change the fact that it is indeed 26 years old. and "anything can happen at anytime".   Therefore. there is no warranty or liability expressed or implied - due to age.   The Buyer will receive a CLEAR and Signed-off Georgia Title. as well as a Notarized Bill of Sale. and a copy of the current Georgia registration.   This set of documents should allow any Buyer in any state to title the vehicle easily.
